During Pref's we have a sister sing "Feels like Home" (it's on the Dawson's Creek soundtrack) - that one gets me going everytime, probably because of the way Rachel sings it. I also have to put my vote in for "Today and Forever" - it's in my head constantly as well.

"God Gave to the Wise Men" is my all time favorite but I didn't know anyone still sang it. I love it! I also like "Zeta Ribbons".

The song with the line "If I had a daughter" mentioned above is a take off on the Georgia Tech fight song and is to the same tune as "Rambling Wrect from Georgia Tech".

I am reviving this OLD thread. We have a new "song and spirit" chair. She is looking for new songs. I don't recognize some of the songs in here though. Plus we have many new posters on the forum.

SOOOOOO ~ favorite ZETA songs? http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...iggrinflip.gif Mine has to be "Everything I Own" and "Friends" which we sing at Preference. Both of them have people crying every time. One of my little sisters sings the solo, and it is a tearjerker. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/AZZANGEL.gif

I used to love and still do The Call and God Gave. We sang it at our candlelights:)

I love The Call and Today and Forever... I also love the Zeta Prayer. We used to sing that before our meals at the house.

Father we thank thee
Father in heav'n
Each blessing from thy loving hand is giv'n
Thy tender watching guides all our ways
Father bless Zeta, our fraternity

yea for alums!!

who remember some of the songs i do. when i was at fsu we did a lot of singing-would start impromptu singing as dinner plates were being cleared and dessert served. and i have a lot of favorites: "gee i'm glad i'm a zeta", "a toast to zeta", "cuddlebunny" and several songs that iwill have to wait to share with you all when we get our "sisters only" site back . we sang " god gave to the wisemen" at out candlelites too! and sometimes after dinner we would have a spirit circle in the front yard and sing this song:

" when linda byrd johnson was the daughter of the prez,
she lived way up in washington where everybody sez that her social rating was far from debating,
she's a z......t.......a

in 1964 when dear old lyndon took the floor,
and lynda byrd johnson was a zeta evermore,
she'll go back to dear austin, it's better than boston,
and be like a true z..t..a..............we're best!"

Listen to this....

Our president just told us that she received an email Sunday from our province president saying that all the chapters are encouraged to make up a chant/cheer/song that lasts 4 minutes long and includes certain words like: blue, gray, sisterhood, southern...for Zeta day which happens to be Saturday for us! We have chapter Thursday at 8:45...I really hope number 1--we can make up a decent song. Number 2--we can all learn it by Saturday morning! Hopefully we will accomplish this...we don't have "chapter songs" we just sing stock Zeta songs....I feel really bad that we don't have a song for our chapter. :(

Don't feel bad - Stetson doesn't/didn't have one either. I never knew until recently that people had chapter songs. :)

my fav ZTA song(s)!

Maybe I'm not as sentimental as it seems a lot of you are, but my two favorite songs are "Champagne" and "I Want a Man." Ever heard those? They are so much fun to sing!

As for cheers, I really like "Vista," but everyone else in my house here at Theta Phi hates it because the hand motions are "too fast" lol.

I have a question, my mother was a ZTA (they didn't have one at my school although next year I am living in the old Zeta house which has been converted into a Pahellinic House) and she sings this song... I was wondering if yall still sang it. It goes something like:
"Deep in the heart
of each Zeta girl
is a man who fufills her dreams
one who is true to the grey and the blue..."
She always sings it when I tell her about candelights or anything.

It sounds vaguely familiar. I'll have to look in some of my things that I've collected. I have a "Greek Sing" album from SMU that it may be on.

I love that house! The apartment on the third floor used to be the chapter room. ZTA still owns the house and the ZTA Mother's Club of Greater Dallas uses it every once in a while for events. Enjoy your time there!
