I am just throwing my opinion out - I think alot of the times when people say things like you said...

"Well, a girl your house did THIS" or "I had an AXO in my math class and she was a snot" or "Yeah I went to high school with an AXO and I hated her"...

they really might be doing it harmlessly, trying to make some sort of connection with you and relating to you on that level...like if someone tells me they got a new pool, I would probably tell them how I was on a swim team for 12 years...or maybe even that my sister almost drowned when she was 5.

They just dont realize that they are really doing the opposite, and turning the conversation to somewhat of a hostile one, especially for you, the woman who loves her sisters and her house.

But sadly, I think that most of the time people who make those comments are speaking out of jealousy and maybe getting a bit defensive...because they dont want you to view them as lower on the todem pole bc they were not greek...somewhat like when someone feels insecure about themselves, they try to tear others down.

I am stopping now...I feel like a psychologist, and I am just a little computer nerd.

I think alot of the anomosity could be related to the fact that members are constantly retaliating about how the "cream of the crop" in college and in the business and political world are ALL members of GLO's. That speaks of alot of egotism and alienates alot of people. It takes two to get respect-both sides have to give a little, no they need to give alot.

Hey, I thought we got rid of Barb. She doesn't seem to know where she's loathed and unwelcome...here we go again with the whining about privileged Greeks.

But it is true; quite a few (not ALL) of society's leaders are GLO members. Why should we lie and say that's not the case? That's akin to me looking someone right in the eye and telling them, "No, I don't have brown eyes." when it is an indisputable fact that the eyes are, indeed, brown and they are, indeed, mine.
