The music is by Haydn, but the arrangement and Latin text are by Peter Christian Lutkin, first dean of the School of Music at Northwestern, who was an initiate both of Iota Chapter (Northwestern) and a national honorary member (Alpha Alpha). The honor society for music students, Pi Kappa Lambda, takes its name from his initials.
FWIW, I think there are a few songs in the book that first got in there because they were associated with particular chapters.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! That is actually really cool that he had such a varied impact. I will keep this in mind. A few of my friends and I are basically the music history lovers club on our campus. Helps when your studio teacher is also a member of the music history faculty.

Now I really want to see a picture of this house. The campus is absolutely gorgeous (wandered with my mom for hours last year), so I'm guessing the house is as well.
