Sorry. You are right, and I do know nothing about the situation.

Huh?

ETA: Ok, I didn't see her original post. Thanks for QFP, BR.

Wait I'm so confused. I'm a current member. But I don't understand why this is bad advice. The PNM's cousin CAN write her a nice rec, right? Sorry, I am genuinely curious.

Because non-members have no business speaking for sororities and their policies.

Your cousin may write a recommendation for you. If recruitment isnt that competitive or there are not a lot of legacies coming through, they may recruit you harder in an attempt to "keep it in the family," but you will not be extended legacy courtesies since you do not fit into the category of what is defined as a legacy for AXO.

In other words, as stated above, you need to change your attitude going in to recruitment as you are not guaranteed membership in any group.

Of subject, and no offense to the original poster, but does anyone else think of a training bra when they see the name Atrainer?

No, but for whatever reason your comment made me think of that commercial they used to play with politically correct names for athletes. One of them is a male cheerleader who said, "I'm not a cheerleader, I'm an athletic supporter." lol!

Wow...aren't we a little sensitive??! I said, "No offense." I can't help it if your name makes me think of a training bra. DUH!

As for being very mature, all of the posters are being very polite to tell you that you are mistaken in your ideas about AXO's legacy policy. This is to help you have a more productive recruitment process without erroneous preconceived ideas. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

No one has judged a book by its cover. If I judged you by the name, I'd assume you had small breasts, but I have no idea what you look like and really don't care what your bra size is. I just laugh when I see your name because it triggers a memory. Quit acting like a petulant child. Is Atrainer the name your were given at birth? No. Does it define you as a person? No. So don't take it so personally.

Okay...take a deep breath and don't take it as bashing. A lot of PNMs come on GC and ask a question. When they get an answer they weren't expecting, they see it as bashing. Reread the posts with a different tone (sometimes it is hard to tell what tone people are using in their posts since you can't hear how they would say things...all you can hear is how you are reading it in your head.) Read the posts like you are trying to give good advice to someone who really doesn't understand that what they think is true is wrong.

Everyone here really does want you to have a successful recruitment, and that includes not going into recruitment thinking that you are a legacy to AXO because of your cousin. Trust me, we know how hard it is when people think they are a shoe in for things, and it doesn't work out the way they think it should. You've been through it once before, so we really want you to have a better experience this time. :)

Here's some advice - SHUT UP!

You're making yourself look horrible, and what's worse is that every sorority at Virginia Tech will be able to pick out the transfer athletic training major who's cousin is a Tech AXO. We have at least one poster who is an active at Tech now, many others at Virginia schools with friends in sororities at Tech, and countless others lurking! Stop digging a deeper hole for yourself and, for the love of God, stop posting!

If you're thinking it's rude to judge a book by its cover then sorority recruitment is definitely NOT for you.
