Oh...the rumors are flying around NYC that they got into a fight, Tiger left after Elin attacked him, she ran after him with the golf club, breaking the back window out of the SUV, causing the wreck, then beat him in the face. This, of course, is all speculation, but the hush-hush nature of the accident, their refusal to speak with investigators about the accident lead credence to these rumors. The above statements made by me were in jest only because we don't really know what happened. If she truly did assault him, in no way is it right, even if he cheated on her.

A domestic DISPUTE and domestic VIOLENCE are two different things. I used the terminology "domestic dispute" to refer to the typical arguments that husbands and wives have with each other. And no, keeping quiet about those kinds of things is not bad. It means they are just keeping their business private. Right now, we really don't know if she actually hit him or not. It is simply speculation. And there has been nothing to indicate that he hit her either.

As you know, what you said is accurate in terms of the legal definition of domestic dispute versus domestic violence.

However, it is arguably not the more mainstream/common use of "domestic dispute," which is probably why als463 responded as she did.

I'm in the minority, but I really think they should just let it go. At this point the FHP's actions seem almost vindictive, like they are so pissed that he won't talk to them so they are going to give him hell.

And if they discover that his injuries were the result of "domestic violence" then can they really arrest her and gain a conviction if he refuses to prosecute?

On the painkillers tip . . . I didn't know that would constitute a DUI. Most painkillers I have taken have not strictly forbidden driving. The labels just said be careful when driving or don't drive until you know the effects. So why is that considered a DUI? Doesn't make sense to me unless you are mixing them with illegal drugs or alcohol at the same time.

I agree with you...if he doesn't press charges, what's the point? And really, what evidence will they have that he was under the influence of pain killers. A medical chart will likely only say that he takes the medication but not when, how much, etc. They won't be able to prosecute him without knowing the blood levels to figure out if he would really be intoxicated/influenced by the medication anyway.

The labels on bottles of wine don't strictly prohibit driving either -- they caution to drink and drive responsibly.

It's DUI if the drugs, whether they are OTC, prescription or illegal, impair one's ability to drive. But as AOII Angel says, proving that at this point would be almost impossible.

I think the story is kinda funny, and I tend to believe the TMZ story: she was pissed about the stories in the Enquirer that says he's been cheating, they fought, he ran out of the house and got in his car, she ran after him with the golf club and smashed out the windows, it startled him and he ran into the fire hydrant/tree. He had lacerations on his face, which I doubt would come from a golf club - more like broken glass. I bet there was something broken inside the house, maybe she threw a beer bottle at him or something?

This sounds perfectly reasonable and plausible to me!
