I am still in a fraternity, and always will be. I don't care to discuss affiliation....but i'm sure you can figure it out if you look around.

You don't care to discuss affiliation? To me it's not the fact that you're in a house, it's WHAT house you're in that matters. But you have made a point that you are a SAE, but what's with all of the name changes ( SAETX, georgewallace ) ? |
Don't really see what you are trying to say...but oh well. They blocked my first two names or something like that and they wouldn't work, so I just made random names.

The worst I've heard from my campus is some rumor that a certain fraternity makes their pledges carve out a pumpkin around halloween, makes them put it on their heads, then the brothers beat it off with a stick. I can't verify this, but if its true might I be the first to say that would suck some major ass.

Alright time to settle this. In my franternity we hold a very large distinction between "chapter room" and "ritual room." The chapter room is where all members, initiated or not, come to have chapter meetings. A chapter room can be any room in the house provided that it is large enough to hold the meeting. The ritual room, where only initiated brothers are allowed in, is specifically for items used during ritual.

The following aren't rumors. These actually happen here... or at least used to.
One of the frats here made their pledges stand out on the plaza wearing only 2 socks and nothing else - one sock on their foot and the other... well I think you can figure that out. - that frat has since been kicked off campus after a pledge died on a night. One of the frats brands the pledges with a number on their butts. One elephant walks One tapes a handle of vodka to each of the pledges hands and tells them they have to drink it all (they don't have to drink the whole thing, just until they're ridiculously drunk) One makes the pledges carry around bent nickels in a bag at all times Another has a "lost your bet" week where the pledges have to do/wear random things - one guy had to have a korean flag on him all week - and they can't shower for a week Most of the frats do a 7-mile hike up a mountain on a weeknight and everyone has to be at class the next day (they usually don't get back till 7am or so) Everyone does pushups, situps, etc. in the creek in 20-30 degree weather, even the sororities. Here are some rumors about my frat - It's a Christian fraternity and so people come up with some weird stuff they think we do. 1. They think we flog/beat the pledges with a whip (we don't) 2. They think we tie them up to a tree as if we're crucifying them (we don't) 3. They think we brand them (we don't... unless they really want to. So far only 3 people in the history of the frat have done so lol) |
