Colony RUSH thread at NCSU
Okay, so this one will be a little different than the other Rush threads from everyone else...maybe a little less exciting...but I'm sure looking forward to it! My name is CJ and I'm getting ready to go through recruitment for the Delta Gamma Colony starting at North Carolina State University! I was thrilled last year when I learned that DG was going to colonize at NCSU. My mom is an Eta DG and I've heard about what an amazing time she had through the fraternity. I've been waiting since the beginning of the school year to start the process and it starts tonight with an information session. Tomorrow will be one on one interviews, Thursday will be a Pref Party, and Friday bids will be extended.
Although I am very excited about recruitment, I have to say that I have some very bad news as well. My mom, who two weeks ago officially beat breast cancer, was told yesterday that her cancer has spread to her liver, lungs, and spine. And there simply isn't much we can do. Statistically, patients in this situation have less than two years. Which tears me apart. But I know that it means a lot to her (and a lot to me) to go through the recruitment. If I was to get a bid, it is something very special we could share together...
But enough of this stuff, I'm starting to cry! Wish me luck on the meeting tonight, the head of the DG Extention Board has contacted me and has asked me to introduce myself tonight since my mom filled out a legacy form. So I am excited about that. It should be a lot of fun! I'll let you know how things go later tonight! And tomorrow...and the next day!!
Saying a few prayers,
CJ

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. How awful. Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Good luck with recruitment, though! I hope you find a home with Delta Gamma.

My prayers are with you and your family at this time. Sometimes a crisis like this enables us to feel how precious our family is to us, I know that's what my father's illness afforded me.
As for your recruitment process, I think it will be absolutely thrilling to hear about the Delta Gamma colonization. The beginning of a sisterhood is such an exciting time, please keep us updated.

CJ, my best wishes to you, your mom and your entire family at this time. I can't even imagine what you may be going through. I hope that the Delta Gamma colonization process is a positive for you. Maybe one day soon you and your mom will share the sisterhood of Delta Gamma! How exciting would that be for both of you!
All recruitment threads are exciting no matter the type, school or sorority involved! Please let us know all about it, because I think it's just wonderful to get a chance to be a part of a new chapter.
Good luck,
Christin (recruitment thread addict!)

I will also be praying for your mother and your family. It would be a beautiful thing if you could share DG.

Okay well here you go...the meeting was great! They had a lot of women speak about different aspects of DG and about how a colony starts. There were slide shows going in the background with pictures. They had blueprints for the house. It was awesome! About 300 girls were there and we each have individual interviews tomorrow. Mine is at noon! I will let everyone know how it goes!! I got to speak with a lot of the women personally and they all seemed so nice! I'm thrilled!
