is this real?
first off. no hate mail for this. i have a friend who is a pi phi and i'm currently bidding on a pin for her for x-mas (it's gonna be a late gift) but i wanna know if it's real. the ebay item number is 1049734110 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1049734110 i just don't wanna waste my money on a fake gift so if a pi phi or anybody who knows this stuff could let me know i'd REALLY REALLY appreciate it.

It looks real.
Also the seller is a collector of fraternity/sorority pins so I think he is just unloading the extras to get money for the holidays. (note I am not supporting his collection just letting you know that he is a collector so they are probably real)

I reponded to this on the Pi Phi page also.
If your friend is a Pi Phi, she should already have this pin. This is the pin we receive when we are intitated. So unless she lost hers...
You can also purchase a brand new one for only $5 more at http://www.pibetaphi.org/market/mktfram.htm, or spend a little extra and get one with jewels.

Yep on skidmark, I am doing the same for one of my Badges!
If you can get a badge of your soro for that little go for it! I paid 458.00 for one! If you can get same one from Your National, then go there!

Yeah, like Angels&Arrows said, the actual Pi Phi pin on ebay is the same initiation one we're given. I say look at the jeweled badges, or, look at the Pi Beta Phi website. There are sooo many different Pi Phi stuff you could give as a gift. I personally suggest the silver bracelet which I'm dying to give my hands on this Christmas! LOL
Good luck in your gift search!

I'm not trying to flame you, but are you in a sorority or not anymore? I thought I'd read that you pledged one but then I didn't know if you stuck with it.
Technically, no badge belongs to the pledge or even active member - Nationals owns the badges. So therefore, if you depledge or ever drop out of your sorority you're supposed to give back your pin. And even in cases of death, the pin is supposed to be returned to Nationals. However some members do pass pins onto their children or grandchildren who become members of that organization.
Just an FYI. Hootie
