UBC Panhell Building

Hey to all my UBC AGD sisters, I like the proposed new Panhell building. A question or two? What is the current living situation? Will each floor be one sorority only? and What is the Village?

UBC is my alma mater. My understanding is that each sorority (there's 7 right now) will have its own suite. I think there will also be an 8th suite built, to allow for the possibility of AOII coming back to UBC (their chapter closed in 1985).

I think there will be a few rooms built on top of the 8 suites, for women to live in, but they are for general residency; that is, any UBC female student can live there, they need not be Greek.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to this! UBC sorority undergrads and alumnae are working feverishly together to raise the final amount necessary so that ground can be broken in August. It is my understanding that there will be an accelerated building completion schedule in place so that it will be ready for occupancy next year (2004)!!

Here is a link to the current plans ...
Preliminary Plans - UBC Panhel Buiding

I only wish that it had been completed while I was still there ~ I was around long enough to see the former Panhel building, which, as Carleigh mentioned, was demolished 5 years ago. Let's just say that this new one will DEFINITELY constitute a huge improvement!

Stay tuned here for more updates!

liEP,
Jen

Exclamation Calling all AGDs!

Hi there,

I just noticed this thread and wanted to ask you all to help out if you could in any possible way. Five years after our first house was torn down, we are finally going to be breaking ground for our new Panhellenic House this August, and the house will be open in September 2004.

Alumnae of all nine sororities that have been on campus (AGD, ADPi, AOPi, Alpha Phi, DG, DPhiE, Gamma Phi, KKG, and Theta) are working extremely hard to fundraise the final amounts needed to start, and we're only $150,000 away!!! That's Canadian, so only about $100,000 US!

I am extremely impressed by the sisterhood I've seen on these boards, and I hope that some of you may be willing to help us out by donating anything you can. We don't even need a lump sum donation, just a pledge for a certain amount over 2.5 years (this can be automatically withdrawn from your Visa or Mastercard or checking account every month - great airmiles and you don't even notice!).

We're hoping to get as many sisters as possible to either buy a brick ($1000 CDN, or $718 US - that's only $6 US a week over 2.5 years!) or give whatever they can to the project - every little bit helps! More information and the donation form are at http://www.vapa.bc.ca

Thank you all so much - we really appreciate any support you can give!

Loyally,
Carleigh
