What is this manual?

I've heard people talk about the Bairds Manual but what I would like to know is what exactly is it? What does it contain? What is so special about it? FInally, can you buy it & for how much? Thanks!

P.S. I was too lazy to look to see if this topic had already been discussed in another thread so please don't slam me. Just point me in the right direction or answer the question. Gracias!

Baird's is a manual that lists all the national fraternities and sororities and what schools they have chapters at.

If you are in a relatively large college library they often have it in the research section. The official title is "Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities" if you want to search for it (if your school/system has an online catalog).

They haven't put one out for a while because they have gone somewhat downhill (the later editions omit a lot of stuff) and they won't print one until they sell all they have already printed.

All I can say is, wow. Just click on this at the top of the page, and type Baird's Manual.

Grazie.

I know our library has the most current one (from early 90s?) in the Reference section. And in the general collection, a few of the oooooooold ones. I personally think the old versions were more comprehensive, and much more interesting.

Thanks a lot guys! I did the research & found that my school does have one, the 1991 edition so I'll have to check it out. Unfortunately, it does not have any older ones that give the more comprehensive details so I'll just have to be satisfied with the one we have until I can get my hands on another one. Many thanks to you all!
