Chicagoan at Ole Miss

So I'm going to Ole Miss for their Croft Institute (if anyone knows what that is). I am definitely interested in joining a fraternity, however I feel like my northern status is making it a losing battle. Can anyone offer me any insight into the Ole Miss fraternity scene and tell me basically if I even have a chance haha. I am a blonde white protestant male and my cousins at VTech claim I am the exact definition of a frat guy, whatever any of that is worth in yours replies lol.....

If your VT cousins tell you that, you probably arent anywhere near the definition.

Overall, though, it's the bigness of the car that counts the most. Because when something bad happens in a really big car – accidentally speeding through the middle of a gang of unruly young people who have been taunting you in a drive-in restaurant, for instance – it happens very far away – way out at the end of your fenders. It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke

You'll be fine. There are plenty of fraternity guys in Croft, Honors, Lott Leadership, etc on campus. Recruitment is delayed until September this year so you'll have about a month to meet some guys.

My son had the same concern as he was from Illinois, but he was invited back to a number of houses and eventually got into his first choice of a fraternity. There were some frats that had their pledge class basically picked, and my son wished he would've known about the summer parties as his pledge brothers pretty much knew each other, but he felt most frats didn't care where he was from.
