Clubs in D.C.

I wanted to ask some of you in D.C. about these club I've been approached by. January and Febuary were dead months for my hobby. I've placed dj'ing on the back burner since I got a real job now. However, something has sparked my interest. I've been approached by someone who does the booking for two clubs in the D.C. area , they are 18th street lounge and a club called Red. Both are owned by the same people from what I understand.

Here's what I know so far.....18th street lounge is more of a chill out lounge consisting of older club kids who kind of grew out of all the drugs and etc. If you like down temp, ambient or jazzy funk, it's one of the coolest places there. Now, The same people who own that, also own a lounge called Red that is extremely underground, literally. They own a couple other places too. No signs, no advertising just word of mouth and very East Coast. A lot of influence from NYC and Philly from what I hear.

Do any of you up in D.C. have any input on either of these venues? There's nothing on the net about them and fidning any info other than by word is virutally impossible. I've been told club Red is like something out of a Blade movie.

Any input would be nice.

I've never heard of Red, but 18th St Lounge is a pretty expensive bar, I'd say you're pretty much on as far as the crowd goes.

I kinda figured that, they're willing to pay my fee plus traveling expenses. To me, that says they do pretty well....

Red face

Went to red when I visited D.C. for the first time when I was 18. Fun, but I don't do that kind of stuff anymore. Kind of got tired of the club scene when I came home to San Antonio. Area 51 in Dallas is my favorite.

Really? Whats it like? Is it seriously undergound type of stuff? Is it full of some cracked out people or is it full of decent people involved in the underground scene?

18th St. Lounge is a personal favorite of mine. I'd go if I were you. (And let us know - I'll stop by to say hi and get my groove on with an pricey drink!)

Red is okay. I've only been there once.

The new hot place right now is Home. At least, thats what everyone is talking about. Haven't been yet.
