New York City

I'm planning a trip to NYC and am investigating hotels. While I am not interesting in youth hostels or places that share a bathroom.

Nor do i want to stay in a "seedy" part of town. I have been to NYC enough times to know the city is safe but still don't want to spend all this money to find the hotel I chose is bad.

So, any recommendations where to stay?

Or, has anyone stayed in and can tell me their opinions of the following hotels?

Holiday Inn Manhattan
HoJo 34 Penn Plaza
Skyline Hotel

Thanks

I love Skyline...I've stayed there several times....it's in a great location and the hotel is relatively nice.

Before you book anything, however, I do suggest that you maybe check out Orbitz...their hotel search engine has a feature where it shows you exactly where the hotel is in relation to other things (ie. Penn Station, etc). I booked a room in the TriBeca Grand Hotel for a seriously discounted price...

Happy searching...I LOVE NEW YORK!

I will propose The Hotel Wolcott (on W31st and 5th i believe.) It's not *really* out of the way, but that depends on where you're headed. It's not too bad of a walk from Times Square/the Theater District, but if you're headed any farther than that it might be kind of a trek! But honestly, I was just there last weekend and it's a really nice walk if you go up 5th avenue. Even around midnight/1am it's not seedy. I'd recommend it to my grandmother, really.
The rooms are pretty nice sized and well equiped, and were very clean and tidy. The lobby is kind of gaudy looking with mirrors and faux marble and gold but it was cute...My one gripe is that the elevators are S-L-O-W and tiny! But overall- a good experience. The price is VERY VERY reasonable. Check out their website (my computer's being dumb and won't load anything except GC and AIM so I can't search myself)

Have fun in NYC. One of my fav. places!

Excited to be heading back East to do some freelance TV work next week. Taking a couple days afterward in the city. See a couple of shows and visit some old network buddies.
