Has anyone ever pledged More than one sorority?

I've really been wondering this. I rushed in the spring of 2001 and accepted a bid to one soroity, I went through my ENTIRE pledge period, I'm talking the whole thing, right up to the day I was supposed to activate, to find out that the chapter was closing. I met with the national VP and discussed my options for rushing and what I wanted to get out of my greek experience. She called panhel and my records were earased and I was allowed to rush in fall of 2001. I chose not to rush then due to some personal problems. Finally last spring I rushed again, and am now a member of Sigma Alpha.

I was wondering if I am the only person to have an experience like this?

If someone else has, do you ever wonder what would have happened if you didn't have to rush again?

On a side note I still keep in touch and spend time with my Big and Grand Big also witha few other girls that I was VERY close with from the first sorority I rushed. In fact the girls treat like a was always a member. I always get calls to go shopping and get coffee, have dinners, etc

This has not happened to me but one of the girls that rushed last year (and pledged us) had de-pledge her previous sorority because she had really wanted us along. I don't know how far along she went as a pledge but I know that it was atleast a few weeks.

I know that as long as the person is not initiated she can rush again, some chapters might be apprehensive but if there is no good reason why she should not be given another chance (i.e. she depledge out of her own choice and was not kicked out for inappropiate behaviour). At our school there are only 5 sorors and a local so it is easy to know pretty much what is going on. That is how we found out about the girl from last year, we made sure to pay special attention to her since she was willing to rush again for us after accepting a bid.

We have a few members actually that had pledged other fraternities on campus. In all of their cases these fraternities hazed and basically stand for the opposite of what we stand for... One of them who graduated is now the chair of our house corporation (and alumni association when we get enough of our own alums). Another of them was the Commander (President) of the colony when we finished and sent off our petition for charter.

The next fall I went through rush again but the chapter advisor to the sorority where I was a pledge suggested that I wait another year and make sure things were stable and I was able to bring up my GPA.

Leslie Anne if you finished the whole program, why didn't the sorority have a special initiation for you when you returned? At the very least, why didn't they hold you over till the next class (it used to be called hold-over pledge on my campus for special circumstances) , so you wouldn't have to rush again?

I have been in the same situation. I pledged one organization and went through the whole pledge period and then decided that I was going to change schools. The school that I was going to transfer to did not have this sorority. I was also told that becuase this chapter does not initiate until the spring semester that I could not be initiated becuase I was going to be at a different school. I was really upset about this at first but now I am a sister in Delta Zeta and I can't be happier.

i didn't end up pledging a different sorority, but i dropped pledging in one semester due to family problems, and came back to the same sorority and re-pledged... best decision i ever made!!
