Things that I've seen done at some of my sisters weddings:

1. Groom sat in the middle of the dance floor (on a chair of course) and the bride and her Zeta sisters sang "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life" to him.

2. Zeta sisters made a circle around the bride and sang "today and forever" to her.

3. They played "It feels like home", we always play that song during pref night and it is so special to us.

There is also a very touching poem we read, I will find it and post it on here, just something cute to read to her.

I'm curious what other Zetas have done at their weddings.

I love this poem!

What Zeta Tau Alpha is…

"Zeta Tau Alpha is not entirely…
a white violet, a national convention, a crested honor ring, a song to Themis, a five pointed crown, a long silver chain or a pin in the shape of a shield.

And it’s not entirely…
An institution, a Creed, a legacy, an obligation or a “Model for Life"

If we must insist that it’s something, Maybe Zeta Tau Alpha is…
Moving in the first time and slowly, learning that all the beautiful people have cellulite and use mouthwash, too. Or maybe it’s just long, tired eternities of stuffing greenery into lattice of drinking coffee and eating junk food during exams when you still can’t remember the Renaissance architects or the bone structure of some creature. Perhaps it’s borrowing a skirt from Jenny and a shirt from Karie and shoes from Trish and passing it all off as your own.

And sometimes…
It’s just sitting and listening in utter helplessness because one of your Zeta sisters is lost and she’s lonely and it seems the whole world just fell into little pieces.

And it’s…
Coming in late one night, and closing the door to tell a special Zeta sister who’s seen you through the hardest year of your life that you’re happy now, and you got accepted to your number one grad school choice.

And Zeta is, I suppose, a kind of evaluation…
You grow up inside those chapter room walls and perhaps you do learn more of the circus we call life than if you had spent your time somewhere else.

You learn that no matter where you came from…
Or who took you there, you’ve still got to find that one small acre that belongs to you, by yourself you learn that the world is made up of people you’re not going to like, and you live with them anyway.

You learn that there’s still a lot left to believe in and a whole lot more to hope for…
You learn that love has never been easy and that it’s a long time coming, but through Zeta Tau Alpha you learn that “Love is the greatest of all things" and it you’re very smart or very lucky you learn that no matter how big or how messy the world becomes what is precious and what is permanent is always the same. And in the very end you come to realize Zeta Tau Alpha is indeed a better way to stumble down the back steps and out the front door of life."

some chapters do a candlelight(white candle) at the reception and the bride blows out the candle after it passes one extra round after "engaged" for married. then they gather round the groom in a circle and sing the zeta sweetheart song to him.

Wedding Belt

Hi! I know that in my chapter we were given wedding belts by our bigs at our big/lil ritual. It was made by them and its something special that you can wear under your wedding gown for good luck. Its something simple, mine is a braided ribbon in turquoise and gray, but I've seen other sisters do more elaborate ones, beaded, etc.

I don't know if you're looking for a gift to give her or not, but one of my sisters who got married had all of her ZTA tshirts made into a quilt since she doesn't wear them much anymore. Now she gets much more use out of them. Her husband actually did it for her, but its another thought....

What is the Zeta sweetheart song? Now that I have a sweetheart, I'm curious.

Deep in the heart
of each Zeta girl
is a man to fill her dreams
one who's true to the gray and blue
he's the one for her it seems
To him the girl with the crown and shield
is the best he'll always say
He loves her more than all the rest
He's a sweetheart of ZTA
He's a sweetheart of ZTA

today and forever, we'll be zetas true,
we'll honor our colors, the grey and the blue,
a million tomorrows will all pass away,
ere we forget, all the friends that we've made today.

we'll be together, forever and ever, you'll know who we are by the friendships we bring,
we'll all work together, our ties, not to sever, we'll laugh, and we'll cry and we'll sing.

We did something similar to the belts but we consider it ritual so I'll have to zip it there (PM me if you want more info). I also pinned a pledge sister's badge inside my dress over my heart - hers had sapphires in it so it was my something borrowed and something blue. I pinned it in her dress before her wedding also. We also make sure to take a pic with all the Zetas at the wedding throwing up the crown sign

Wink Wedding Traditions

Our chapter has a tradition of passing on 'the Zeta bracelet.' When a Zeta sister gets married, she wears it on her special day. It's something borrowed and something blue, since it has Zeta Blue in it. This is very special to us, signifying a new era in our lives together as sisters.

I love the idea of the candle passing and especially sisters circling the groom and singing to him, and circling the bride and singing to her. Great ideas!
