Pi Kappa Alpha Presents "Pike Bounce 2010"

To The Greek Chat Community:

The brothers of the Lambda Theta Chapter are preparing for our fourth annual Pike Bounce for Charity. The chapter has spent the last several months working with the Evan Witty Cambodia’s Hope Fund in preparation for this big event. Witty, a 2008 UD graduate and member of Pi Kappa Alpha passed away suddenly last spring while volunteering at an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Evan had a great passion for his work there and in a letter written near the holidays wrote, “My time here has been filled with struggle and adversity, but more importantly with joy, discovery, and small steps forward. I live with, and am a teacher to, just shy of one hundred children.” The event involves a lot of hard work from our individual brothers who pledge their services to gain sponsorship from various businesses, families, friends, and other on-campus organizations. After receiving donations from these sponsors we will be driving down to Xavier University on Sunday, January 31st 2010 and will run the distance between Cincinnati and Dayton (approximately 48 miles). Fifty of our brothers will participate in running the total distance and hand off a basketball to the next brother in line upon completion of their running assignment. Pike Bounce was created to fuel the great tradition between the two schools; today, it is also used to continue powering the tradition and legacy Evan Witty left at Dayton and the Palm Tree Orphanage.

Last year the Pike Bounce for Charity was a huge success due to the hard work from the brothers and overwhelming support from the community. Over $10,000 was raised for the Victor J. Cassano Health Center, an organization that provides healthcare for impoverished families in the Dayton area. This year our goal as a fraternity is to raise $15,000 in order to support our new philanthropy.

We ask for your generosity by providing a tax-deductible monetary donation that will help assist our fraternity in reaching its goal. In years past generous individuals and businesses have donated a fixed amount per mile we run (48 miles). However, any amount you wish to contribute to this event will be greatly appreciated. If you choose to do so and wish to pay by cash or check please make it payable to Pi Kappa Alpha and mail it to: Pike Bounce for Charity, c/o Kevin Tuleta, 33 Jasper Street, Dayton Ohio 45409. If you prefer to pay by credit card we ask that you visit the Pike Bounce website at: charity.udpikes.com. There is a link at the bottom of the website which allows you to donate by credit card over a secure connection.

We would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to express our cause and would greatly appreciate any assistance you have to offer.

Respectfully,

The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity | Lambda Theta Chapter | University of Dayton
