Depression-How do you deal with no meds?
Though I originally self-diagnosed and then went to see a professional years ago, I've learned how to manage my depression over the years but every now and then, I'll have a panic attack or a something will trigger a massive, overwhelming feeling of deep sadness -- more like despair. Without meds of any type, I've learned and taught myself how to pull back and check myself.
If you're willing to share, how do you deal with your depression without medication?

Hi Ninja, I don't have depression or anxiety; but, in my professional experience, people have had success with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). See: https://adaa.org/finding-help/treatment/therapy

Nija and navane,
been there but did not do it, LOL!
Have given some thought about it lately considering what I have gone through over the last 5 1/2 years!
Prostate, Bone, Skin Cancers. Now COPD, with Nodes on lungs, and then lately Friggen Brain Surgery
Going through a whole lot more just trying to sustain living day to day! Lot of thought given, but I feel I am stronger than that!
Hell if anybody has a right to pull the pin, I feel I do!
So never ever give me shit, I have been there but have not given in yet!
Just a word to others!!! Contact me or some other really neat folks on G C!

Firstly NinjaPoodle thanks for being so open and honest with what you're dealing with, its never easy.
I've suffered from depression most of my life, and I've had some period where I've done meds and others where I just try and cope. Honestly for me, its about knowing the threshold for myself as to when me trying to cope on my own isn't going to cut it and seeking out additional help either through therapy or medication. Another thing that has really helped during the down periods I've had over the years is my faith. Not that I'm beat someone over the head with a bible religious but, I do believe in God and a higher power beyond myself in this world which lets face it can super stink sometimes.
I think each individual is different but I do hope the cloud lifts for you.

I agree, not easy but over the years, for me it's gotten easier. Sharing helps me possibly help someone else.

I deal with it day by day as I would imagine you do as well. We have different coping mechanisms.
I'm not "going through" anything right now but I have my moments and find ways to work through them. I was just curious how others deal with their situations.
Thank you for sharing also.
