Question.........

I wanted hear some of your responses to this situation.

A friend of mine is going to school up north, I think it's called north florida univ. or univ. of north florida. Anyhow it's in Jacksonville.

He sent me an email saying that he is going through rush right now there but there isn't a PiKA chapter or else he's not seen them yet. I checked and found that there is NO PIKE chapter there so I told him this and he inquired as to how one would start a chapter there. I told him that a chapter could not be established before colonization but I did not know ALL of the details as to how he and some of his friends would go about this,so, who should I tell him to get in contact with since he is interested. ( When I say who, I don't mean at the university, I mean on the national level.) I don't want to tell him one thing and then that not be true so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I know it'd make me happy to see a PiKA chapter at EVERY major university in the state of Florida now, now that UF and FSU are back.

Have your friend contact Ryan Van Andel at the Memorial Headquarters. Ryan is the Director of Expansion. He can be reached at pkaexp@pikes.org or 901-748-1868.

It would be much better for his chances if he already has a group of men interested in starting a Pike Colony (what MHQ would call an Interest Group). MHQ would then need to gauge the school's interest and openness to expansion and colonization. Drumming up some local Alumni support would also be beneficial to your friend if you know any Pike alums in the Jacksonville area.

I wish him luck with this great opportunity!
