Chapters and Technology
Hey all, I got my Q last week... what about everyone else?
I think the next generation piece was very insightful. Now we just have to put the tech into practice. The article took into account the need for the tech but it didn't take into account the amount of time it takes to prepare for chapter meetings or how much time website maintance takes. I know my chapter has a website but it hasn't been updated since Dec of 2003 and now the chapter doesn't have anyone inclined to make the comittment to update it.
I like the professional sites that some chapters have the money to maintain but I know that my chapter doesn't have those funds. Also who has the time to put the chapter meeting notes on Powerpoint? I think it would be great to have that kind of time because it is more intriging to those who are listening but I don't think that it is realistic to think that a college student who is overworked with studying and other involvements will do this every week.
What do other chapters do? How are your chapters incorporating technology into your chapter events? Do you think that the article is accurate for the current members or was it more focused on the future Recruitment Classes?
I know that Theta Upsilon has invested in a laptop and projection monitor. They have used it at events like our 5th Birthday celebration and in the past years at informal recruitment events. I don't know if they have used it in formal recruitment or not, or if they are using it with chapter meetings.
