Louisiana Politics as usual
After attending DC Mardi Gras this past weekend, I was brought out of my "we're one big happy family" daze by this story.
You may remember O'Keefe as the fake pimp who busted ACORN giving him and his fake prostitute advice on how to avoid the law in their illegal fake prostitute ring. Apparently, he tried to tap Senator Mary Landrieu's phones this week and was busted. The head of the Louisiana Democratic party thinks that the other Louisiana Senator, David Vitter, is behind this stunt. Ironically, Vitter, who ran on a "Family Values" platform was busted for soliciting prostitution from the DC Madam! Oh what tangled webs we weave...

I'm not surprised to hear that the Dems are blaming the GOP senator for being behind this, nothing but a blame game going on in politics these days. That O'Keefe kid likely had some information on Landrieu to want to tap her phone line, hopefully we find out what it was that attracted their sights on her. Maybe this incident will let other dirty or potentially dirty politicians know that people are watching. As an independent voter it makes me sick to see people defend unscrupulous acts just because they belong to the same party as the offender.

So it's okay to illegally wiretap a Senator just to try an find out if she's doing something you don't like. Breaking the law to prove someone else is breaking the law is like that old adage- two wrongs don't make a right. Also, I've followed Louisiana politics for a long time....I can't remember Senators ever going after each other like this.

When did I say it was okay? When did I defend them for their actions against the Senator? I didn't. I don't condone what they did at all but if this fiasco brings to light corruption committed by this Senator she should be held accountable.

Maybe I misinterpreted this statement, "As an independent voter it makes me sick to see people defend unscrupulous acts just because they belong to the same party as the offender." Was this a statement against Vitter if he defends O'Keefe or a statement against the democrats if they defend Landrieu? I agree, if Landrieu is up to something, she'd better stop, but just because O'Keefe is singling her out doesn't mean that she necessarily IS doing something wrong. Afterall, his motto is "Don't just respond to news, but actually create your own headlines." That implies a lot.
