Macromedia Flash is a great flash media developer to use. However it is rather expensive, unless your GLO actually has a budget set aside for web development. If you're really serious about it though you can DL the free 30 day trial and take their free flash tutorials.
To create a really outstanding Flash intro you'll need some awesome graphics, time to learn the program, and $$ to buy the program.
As a professional web designer, I recommend having a site for low-bandwidth visitors as well, otherwise you risk alienating a large group of potential visitors.
TechAPhi took the words right out of my mouth...of course, who am I to talk, I run probably the world's most boring-looking site (for now). Most browsers have a hard time viewing Flash pages. Worldwide, IE and Netscape Navigator are not as popular as they are in the US, and an HTML site is a good idea. Try your local library for Flash instruction books.
