Dues Across the Country

I was wondering, what is everyone's dues across this fair land? I've been talking to alot of the guys I've met at college of chapter and I've heard ranges from 180 (somewhere out west...but, they don't have a house) and up. ...so, I mean, is there an "average" dues?

Ours are 550 a semester... which, we don't have a house... but, we take the candidate fees and all of that stuff out of the 550. Several people I know said that's alot, but, when we're at a school where we're the cheapest by over 500 dollars... and the ranges is from 1,000 to 3,000 a semester, we're actually doing pretty good.

So, how about anyone else?

Our brotherhood dues are around $520....broken into monthly payments of $130.

Rent is $500 for a single, $300 for a double all the money goes to Housing Corp. BUT if you live out you have to still pay a $50 Parlor Fee that covers a key to the house and parking of which the money goes to paying Housing Corp...

Candidates pay $240 or $60 a month....plus their $90 to National....

We're actually dying to crack the 50 man mark so we can start all paying less! Right now we're at 28 with like 20-25 rushees....I get a feeling we'll have 10 to 15 candidates.

I have no idea what our guys pay now. I don't know if I'd post it during Rush. It seems to me that if it's not something I'd post on the chapter website, it's not something I'd post here. Potential candidates do search these forums from time to time. I always prefer to explain our dues situation face to face with someone so that they can fully understand what it's for, how it's spent, etc.

I don't remember. Altho, I can tell you I lived in the house all 4 years, and it was the cheapest way to live on campus (rent and dues). That's probably what pushed it over with my parents and got them to agree with my rushing.

When I was Active we paid $684 for Fall/Winter/Spring Combined and $100 for summer. We have a 1 time fee of $100 dollars to the housing fund. Candidates pay all of their National required payments plus $35 a month to chapter of which $17 goes back to the class for their events and such. We also gave a 15% discount for a 3.0 and a 50% dicount for a 4.0 GPA. The Commander does not have to pay dues. We have to pay for Formal/White Rose out of pocket which runs about $120 a couple for dinner and gifts.

Our alumni chapter dues are like $50 a year or something small like that.

We don't have a house. I lived in our so called house for 3 years and it was inexpensive as well. It was in reality 4 of us that shared a house but our doors were always open to the chapter to hang out or crash after a late night. We had all of the chapter possesions. I think there is like 8 guys that live in the same house now. and 8 more that live in the house next door. Both houses are owned by one my fellow Alumni.

Interesting point, but I don't mind being transparent at all because we're completely mid-range on our campus....very average priced in both rent and dues.

So, that's 500/300 a month or a year? Because if that's a month, then, dang, I pay 350 a month on rent (my half) at one of the nicer places here in town.

My bad, it's actually $350 a month for a double not $300. You also have to realize that we're talking CALIFORNIA here....where everything is expensive as hell. In California $500 for a single is a steal of a deal

Lol, I was wondering... that sounded REALLY inexpensive... if it's that low, then, I'll just move out there and never leave college. hahaha

No house, 55 active brothers and here are our dues:
$375/semester for Brothers, paid within 30 days of the start of Fall and Spring semesters

$90 Nationals fee for Candidates, no other dues

$X Nationals fee for initiation. (however much it is these days?)

This gives our chapter $41,000 annually, which is enough to pay for Insurance, a fall Semi-formal, spring Formal, and Rush for both semesters, including buying Letters for new initiates, Rush shirts for us old bastards, and souvenier glasses for the spring Formal.

On top of that, we have pay-if-you-go events like golf (where some brothers might want to go, others hate golf), and we handle that as cash money on an event by event basis, usually for an additional $50-150 per semester, depending on the activities attended...

Largest fraternity on campus with the cheapest dues! woohoo!

At one point, ours is the most expensive process on our campus, apparently. From talking with other fraternities when I was treasurer, that was the conclusion. Which makes it harder for recruitment sometimes... I'm not sure on the actual dollar amount... We do have a house though... wish i had figures for you.

Our dues are $110 for brothers living out the house and $90 for brothers living at the house...then during the summer months when we're not in school it's $150 for the whole summer. I don't know how we are compared to other fraternities on campus
