i think that you did the right thing by not fraternizing with the chapter. you had to set yourself in an authority role, and you can't do that if you are out partying with them.

the same thing happens with the chapter i advise. they plan an
event for area alums. and then don't follow thru and finalize the arrangements or else do not give the alums enough notice. on the other hand, this chapter seems to fly by the seat of their pants alot, so even their own activities get cancelled. one thing i have learned is that i have to be much more flexible with them-if it fits into my schedule, i will attend;if it does not, i won't.

you are volunteering your time-it should fit into YOUR schedule, and be at your convenience, and it should be fun. if it is not, resign at the end of the year, but be sure to give them ample notice.
