Question Chapter awards

wishinhopin's thread got me thinking about this, since there is only one NPC group at her school. Some sororities and fraternities have recognition for "highest campus GPA", "highest campus total" and things like that. If you are the only group on campus in your "category" (NPC, IFC etc.) or the only sorority or fraternity period, do you get recognized, even though you pretty much have no competition?

I would assume no because its given that you would have the best grades and the lowest grades. No need to give awards because you would have no compitition and no one to compare to.

University level -
Regarding academics, I think that it would depend on the school. Some schools look at all campus organizations and divide them into categories. (OK, big DUH there. ) An NPC group, as a lone GLO - NPC/NIC/NPHC or other, may get lumped into the service organization category with Angel Flight, Alpha Phi Omega or Circle K and make the awards from there.

National organization level -
Many groups have criteria set up for campuses with 1 to 5 NPC groups, 5 - 10 groups or 10 or more

Even though a chapter may be the sole campus sorority, the national organization sets requirements that they have meet.

Sorry, I am getting long winded.

At the university level, no, probably you wouldn't get awards because you have no one to "compete" against.

On the national level ~ AEPhi gives out awards for such things as "highest sorority GPA" which a sole sorority on campus probably wouldn't qualify for (because they have the highest GPA by default). Similarly, awards for meeting quota and chapter total wouldn't apply. But there are other awards for things like "most money raised for our philanthropy", "best academic program" etc. that such a chapter would qualify for. AEPhi breaks chapters down into small, medium, and large, in terms of number of members, rather than number of NPC sororities on each campus.
