Who has Varsity Letters?
How many of you lettered in a sport/sports in high school? What about in college?
I have 4 tennis letters, 3 swimming/diving letters and 3 track and field letters from high school and I played tennis in college but didn't letter.

I had my Varsity letter in Tennis (Capt of the Girl Squad, hell yeah.) We couldn't recieve more than 1 V-letter of a certain sport, so we we given these gold bars for every 2 years and a gold pin of the symbol of the sport if you were in if you 'lettered' each year. Oh, and I recieved a Marching Band Varsity letter..yes...we had those

I have track and cross-country letters. And a band letter -- we had them too.
Did anybody's school have academic letters? I think that is the weirdest concept but some of the people I know at college had academic letters in high school.

Woohoo!
4 years Varsity Tennis (Captain Sr Year), and 3 years Varsity Track manager.
Here's how my high school dealt with multiple letters in one sport:
1st year- Letter
2nd year- pin (tennis was a tennis raquet, etc) that u wore on your letter
3rd year- special varsity certificate-- Laminated! woohoo
4th year- Senior Varsity plaque, and if u ever got voted MVP they engraved that on there too (woohoo! and my rookie of the year award).

4 years, Cheerleading [JV Captain Freshman year, Varsity Captain Senior year]
2 years, Paddling
1 year, Soccer
My cheerleading coaches always had hell to pay with my other coaches. It was fun though.
I was also named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year my senior year. I got a nice big plaque and my picture up on the wall of honor in the gym.

Props to you! I can't fathom voluntarily being on a sailboat. I think it has to do with the unfortunate boom incident in high school when I didn't know to duck and spent the whole next week looking like I'd gone 18 rounds with Mike Tyson.

They didn't start a sailing team until 4 years after I graduated high school. I wish it was there while I was in school. Oh well.

I earned a letter seven times in Track and Field in and two times in Football.
I also earned an academic letter which actually looked pretty sharp (we had them sewn on in an overlapping patter under our athletic letter, our athletic letter was orange and the academic letter was blue, our h.s. colors).
Also had other various patches for conference championships and stuff like that.
I also earned 56 medals (all but two were earned in Track).

If one was allowed to have, I would have lettered in Forensics (competative Speech/Drama) four years in a row.
I also lettered in academics one year.
