Kappa Delta chapters
Lately there has been a thread about what chapters new members have to learn. I realized I only knew a few and wanted to learn more. As I went through our single letter chapters, I noticed two things:
1. I cannot find a trace of Omega chapter.
2. I thought we used the greek alphabet to organize the chapters by founding date ie. Alpha was first, beta second, gamma third etc. That doesn't seem to match.
Here is my list (mainly taken for Irishpipes recruitment thread) of single letter chapters:
Alpha: Longwood University (Virginia) 1897-1912, ?
Beta: Chatham Episcopal College (Virginia) 1902-1904
Gamma: Hollins College (Virginia) 1902-1912
Delta: College for Women (South Carolina) 1905-1910
Epsilon: Louisiana State University (Louisiana) 1909
Zeta: University of Alabama (Alabama) 1904
Eta: CUNY-Hunter College (New York) 1913-1964
Theta: Randolph-Macon Women's College (Virginia) 1903-1960
Iota: Caldwell College (Kentucky) 1907-1908
Kappa: Women's College of Alabama (Alabama) 1913-1913
Lambda: Northwestern University (Illinois) 1907
Mu: Milsaps College (Mississippi) 1914
Nu: Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma) 1919
Xi: University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) 1920-1933/1979
Omicron: Illinois Wesleyan University (Illinois) 1908
Pi: University of Nebraska (Nebraska) 1920
Rho: University of Wyoming (Wyoming) 1914-?
Sigma: Gunston Hall (Virginia) 1903-1912
Tau: University of Wisconsin (Wisconsin) 1920-1973
Upsilon: Beloit College (Wisconsin) 1920-1970/2007
Phi: University of California (California) 1917-1969
Chi: University of Denver (Colorado) 1914-1974
Psi: Lawrence University (Wisconsin) 1918-1968
Omega
Could anyone enlighten me? Or fix any of the information?
