First Chapter in the Midwest

A new chapter of Gamma Xi Phi has come to the Midwest.

Gamma Xi Phi, the nation’s leading fraternity for artists, chartered its Kappa Chapter in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, June 12, 2021, with two members: Venise Keys and Dionne Victoria. The local movement began during the height of the pandemic in the Fall of 2020, when informal meetings were held with interested working artists in the community.

Those initial meetings crystallized into an official interest group, organized on April 21, 2021, and fulfilled the requirements for chartering in record time. The former members of The Artists of South Side Chicago are now the fraternity’s tenth single-letter chapter.

Thank you so much.

We are grateful to the members of the GC community who noted the good ideas embedded within our founders' youthful exuberance back in the fall of 2010. There were those who compassionately questioned our purpose and intent, and there were those who dismissed us as having founderitis.

We are grateful for all of that feedback.

The main thing we learned is that we don't have to be like any other organization.

So we're not. And in the decision to be different, we have succeeded.

So thanks again! We're happy to continually bring the good news.

I have to say, reviewing your website, y'all would have been very successful at my undergrad. Traditional organizations do not understand the time requirements of fine arts majors, i.e., that they still have to get 120-someodd hours to graduate, but so many of their requirements are 1 hour classes which meet for 5 hours per week. Fine arts majors in my organization were few and far between because of this. But a Kappa chapter.. you're well on your way!
