King Tut (King Tut)
Now when he was a young man,
He never thought he'd see
People stand in line to see the boy king.
(King Tut) How'd you get so funky?
(funky Tut) Did you do the monkey?
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (king Tut).
(king Tut) Now, if I'd known
they'd line up just to see him,
I'd trade in all my money
And bought me a museum. (king Tut)
Buried with a donkey (funky Tut)
He's my favorite honkey!
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (king Tut)
Dancin' by the Nile, (Disco Tut)
The ladies love his style, (boss Tut)
Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut)
He ate a crocodile.
He gave his life for tourism.
Golden idol!
He's an Egyptian
They're sellin' you.
Now, when I die,
now don't think I'm a nut,
don't want no fancy funeral,
Just one like ole king Tut. (king Tut)
He coulda won a Grammy,
Buried in his Jammies,
Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia,
He was born in Arizona, got a condo made of stone-a,
King Tut!

Re: King TUT!
What controversy? King Tutankhamun was North African, and while not "black" per se, he as he was depicted in the art of his time dark skinned (although there are arguements as to how dark skinned) to say the least... all it takes is a little research into the past - or even a look at the record in Egyptian art from the period...
Some reconstructions:
British reconstruction
French reconstruction
Bust from his tomb
Image from tomb wall showing Nut (goddess of heaven and sky) greeting Tutankhamun

Coop, very nice digging and info!
It just seems overly silly to me to even raise such a stink about a Boy King who has been dead for so long.

Personally I don't understand why King Tut is so iconic, being such a minor and frankly insignificant Pharoh, outside of the fact his was the only non-plundered tomb discovered so far... in fact even his tomb taken within context wasn't all that great either compared to the others...
Why not Thutmoses III (Menkheperre), or Netjenkhet (Djoser), or Senusret I (Kheperkare), or Ramesses II (Usermaatresetepenre)?

He was white.
Here's a photograph of King Tut addressing the Egyptian people to prove it:

Fascinated to see the very early Egyptian microphone and the original design for the Olympic Rings on the headpiece.

I just went and saw the exhibit yesterday in Los Angeles. I think that they should stop promoting it as a King Tut exhibit and more as a 18th dynasty pharoahs exhibit. My favorite items were from Akhenaten's reign.
Overall it was an amazing exhibit, especially some of the jewelry he wore.

I laughed out loud.
Had I been drinking milk at the time, out the nose it would have gone.

I saw it on 6/17 - thought it was fantastic. I think they do need to change the billing a little to mention more of the other portions of the exhibit that aren't Tut's items. I would say though that it was about 1/2 Tut and 1/2 earlier pharoahs.
The detail on the pieces is just amazing. There was a wooden chest in the shape of a cartoche that I would love to have a replica of. And the detail on the jewelry, even if it was inlaid on the front the back of the piece was carved in just as a fine a detail as the front.
For those who are anywhere near the cities where the exhibits are going to be I strongly recommended trying to see it. Also, get the audio tour it gave more detail about some of the pieces.
