Ney to Temporarily Cede House Panel Chair

WASHINGTON Jan 15, 2006 — Rep. Bob Ney, an Ohio Republican implicated in a lobbying corruption investigation, said Sunday he will step aside temporarily as chairman of the House Administration Committee.

"Unfortunately it has become clear to me in recent days that the false allegations made against me have become a distraction to the important work of the House Republican Conference and the important work that remains ahead for the House Administration Committee," Ney said in a written statement.

That was a reference to a scramble by Republicans in the House and Senate to come up with a new set of rules governing lobbying and travel as a way to inoculate themselves politically from the scandal unfolding around the guilty plea of lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Delay was the first to step down from a big post, now Ney has too. I wonder who is next in this chain reaction Abramoff started.

The Top Five Schmucks of 2005

The Democratic Party: All you Democrats out there can say that people like Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Chuckie Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Dickie Durbin and the rest of the poisonous leftist vermin scum of your party don't speak for you, but the fact is that they have hijacked your party and its agenda -- in fact the best your could do for a presidential candidate in 2004 was one of these folks. Your party has, therefore, turned into the party that opposes everything that is good for the country: You oppose fighting and winning the war on terror, preferring instead to turn tail and run away. You oppose George Bush's tax cuts which have led to the largest period of rampant economic growth since the last across the board tax cuts in the Reagan years. Your party is the party of negativism hatred and vitriol but when it comes to solutions in your party, there are none to be found. It short, the little commie pig hippies from 35 years ago have grown up, put on suits and found out it's far better to be the elitists who fly around in luxury jets and try to force their idiotic ideas on the little people than smelly little hippies lying to senate committees about the actions of our soldiers in Vietnam. Some have found that if you're going to be a drunk, it's better to be one from a seat in the senate than where you can lie about and denigrate the president with relative impunity than it is to be a drunk behind the wheel of an Oldsmobile who leaves a woman to die in a creek even if your name affords you the opportunity to escape from this scandal relatively unscathed. Some have found that the wealth afforded them by the hard work of their husbands has allowed them to pursue positions of political power where they can look down upon the "little people" and tell them what they think is best for them. So much for women's lib. Like it or not Democrats, these are the people who have a death grip on your party and you'd better wrest control back from them if you want this once-respected political party to be anything more than a joke in the future.

Howard Dean: I know he's the head of the Democratic National Committee and as such, could have been included with the above assorted schmucks, but Howard Dean is his own special brand of jackass who deserves his own mention. Republicans are stupid; he hates us; the only black people we know are the wait staff and the other people who serve us. He's a leftist bigot who makes who makes that conservative caricature of the left, right wing bigot Archie Bunker, look mild -- and he looks more than a little but like Archie Bunker to boot. He denigrates our brave men and women in the military by opining that we are losing the War on Terror when the exactly opposite is the truth. He's a loser; he's proven to have the political instincts of a turnip by running around the country shooting his mouth off and shooting himself and the his party in the foot -- so much so that the most common phrase among the politicos in the Democratic party has become "Howard Dean doesn't speak for me" which is a pretty stupid thing for them to say because, as the head of the Democratic National Committee his job is to speak for them. But they recognize as well as we do that he's a bigot, a jackass and idiot and a moron all rolled into one. He's Howard Dean, the duly appointed head of the DNC.

The American Civil Liberties Union: To call this organization anti-American is an understatement. The causes they choose to fight for prove they are the champions of abortion, atheism, pedophilia including child pornography and child rape, terrorism and terrorist states: In short, pick something that is wrong with our country and the ACLU will be out there fighting for it in the name of "civil liberties". With possible Supreme Court challenges to come over the issue of the "legality" of wiretapping people who would like nothing better than to see us all dead, thank God Clinton only managed to get one ex-ACLU attorney on the Court in his eight years.

George Soros and Peter Lewis: With their billions, these two have done more to increase the coarseness of political debate in this country than any other two political contributors in the history of liberal politics. This probably would have been a more appropriate pick last year due to the election-year campaign smears they helped fund but their influence continues with the smear merchant web sites and misinformation TV and radio campaigns their tens of millions in contributions help fund. Their funding and leadership in the leftist commie groups America Coming Together and MoveOn.org have cheapened political debate and given the little hippie sloganeers of the seventies something other than cheesy handwritten signs on which to display their moronic slogans. Yes, thanks to Soros and Lewis, the little hippies now wear three-piece suits and wingtips and use electronic media to communicate their half-baked messages of protest.

The Leftist American Media: In the find tradition of saving the best schmucks for last, I present the leftist American Media: Wow! So much to say about these muckraking rats and so little time to say it! Not in our lifetime have the liberal media invested so much vitriol and hatred in a president and his ideology; resorting to lies, distortions, half-truths and innuendo in the basest and most transparent attempts to pass off their personal attacks as hard news. We’ve had insinuations about President Bush’s intelligence even though he proved himself to be a better student than their hero Al Gore (who by some accounts distinguished himself in during his school years only by the sheer volume of the wacky weed he was able to partake of at a setting). We’ve seen them question his “engagement” even though he is, for the most part following the management model that worked so well for Ronald Reagan. The presidency, after all, is by the sheer magnitude of the position, a job where you find the best people and delegate to them, something that was glaringly lacking in the Clinton years. And what critique of liberal media hatred for our president would be complete without the insinuations of dishonesty which are an underlying drumbeat that pervades any and all of the liberal media coverage of the president? Bush lied, people died is the covert (and many times overt) mantra of leftist press.
