Beta Gamma gets new house!
I just learned from some of the actives that the Beta Gamma (U of Colorado) chapter got a new house! They got too big to fit in the old house and managed to get a house from a fraternity that just got kicked off! The new house is great! It has a MOAT and turrets and everything! Plus the location is tons better! Yippee! That should really help the numbers keep going up!

Wow! That sounds like quite a house ("a moat and turrets")! Congrats to those Colorado Phis!

hi ivysis! haven't seen you around in awhile. this is good news. i always felt that a larger house would really help the chapter be even more competitive in rush. the house they are moving too is incredible also. i remember going to a couple of parties there (before the campus went dry, which kind of dates me) and thinking how beautiful it was.
i have a couple of questions though and i don't know if you'd know the answers but i had to ask. first, doesn't it need a lot of fixing up? the news reports said they (the recently evicted fraternity who doesn't need to be named) caused about $20,000 in damage after they found out the charter was pulled. second, do we have any idea who owns that house? i was just wondering if they were going to want to recharter eventually since they were such a prestigious chapter at one point.
also, whose moving into the old alpha phi house? little background for everyone: the alpha phi house is about five or six blocks from campus making it the second farthest away of all greek houses. it's absolutely gorgeous with a castle like exterior and turret staircases however it is smaller than all the other sorority houses and it's status as a historical landmark plus lack of land make additions or annexes out of the question. anyway, sig ep and lambda chi both lived there briefly while we were off campus in the 80's. just wondered if a smaller fraternity wanted it (much to the chagrin of the neighbors who complained about US being loud.)

Ok, Ill attempt to answer some questions, but remember I only heard this from a few actives, so it may be a little hazy....here goes:
The fraternity that left (which is my (almost) father-in-laws fraternity....he proposed to his wife in that house!) was in BIG trouble. They have stated that IF they recharter they will wait until anyone who was ever a member of that house has graduated from school. When talking to the father-in-law he doesnt think they will come back anytime soon.
I heard that they are "renting-to-own" the new house...Im not quite sure.
A new fraternity (possibly TKE, but that again could be a rumor) is moving into our old house. They will only rent it because it was built for us by us and is a historical landmark.
There should be TONS of work to do in the new house. I only went there a few times when I was in college, but it was trashed then. Apparently they had a sledge hammer moving out party when they found out they were gone. The work should take all summer to fix it up, but the girls have already chosen rooms in the main house and the annex next door. They will move in and have rush (ack...recruitment, sorry) there next fall.
I will really miss the old house. So much happened there. But I know the new house has so many benefits that will help us out. We have pretty much doubled in size in the past few years, and this will help us to compete with the other houses. I am going to try to visit my old suite sometime soon. Ill be back in colorado for my wedding in a week or so. Just need to say goodbye.

I am so excited about the new Beta Gamma^ house!!! Please be aware that a lot of what is posted above is partial truth or things that were true several weeks ago or may be true tomorrow and aren't true now.
Renee Zainer, Billie Batiatto, the corp board and all of Team Boulder are working very hard to make this dream a reality. Team Boulder has recognized for a long time that we need to do something about the housing situation, but we are constrained at 888 by both zoning regulations and our historical status.
While the fraternity house was thrashed, the fraternity has done a considerable amount of repair and we have met with our decorator and have plans in place to have the facility ready for move-in in plenty of time for fall recruitment.
Right now we are trying to get occupancy issues cleared with the city, so keep your fingers crossed! Who lives at 888 next year and the terms of our lease from the fraternity will be determined in large part by what happens with the city.

Beta Gamma^ chapter is officially changing addresses! The city of Boulder, after much rigorous review, has approved all leases without change to current code.
This is wonderful news and so exciting for the chapter. Much thanks goes out to Renee and Billie who have worked tirelessly to see that this dream became reality.
The interior designer we are working with recently decorated AXO, GPB and the President's home at the Air Force Academy. She is planning on putting new furnishings in all the bedrooms and the first floor. The facility will allow for a library and exercise room and is surrounded by other fraternities and sororities on the "hill" and will put us in the midst of the campus.
We will be leasing 888 to the AIM House, they assist students with mild learning disabilities at CU.
Woohoo!

Pix of the new house
I visited Beta Gamma Deuteron last weekend for Rush Boot Camp. I am pleased to report that the new house is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
It is absolutely gorgeous!
I will try to add some more pix to the site tomorrow. My pix of the inside were taken on the wrong setting.
Hope all is well!
Edited b/c I took the page down temporarily.
