Pledge NPHC after leaving LGLO/MCGLO
I have looked all over the forum, but I haven't seen anything relating to this topic. Here is the situation. I am currently a member of a multicultural sorority and was wondering that if I left that organization, would I be eligble to pledge NPHC. My sorority is not considered greek at my campus because my school does not have a MGC. Any insight would be great. Thank you!

Based on your post, I'm guessing you're in a national GLO. Even though you may not be in a council on your campus, you're still in the GLO.

NO. Only members of service, professional, and honors organizations may pursue membership.

Since your title reads, "Pledge NPHC After Leaving LGLO/MCGLO," does that mean you're currently a member of one of these orgs. that was founded as a LGLO but now calls itself MCGLO when convenient?

I apologize for not having been more clear. First, yes my sorority is a member of the multicultural greek council at the national level.

My sorority was founded by Latina women but is a member of the NMGC and calls itself multicultural. So I would have to say that your statement is correct.
I visited the official websites of several NPHC organizations. Pretty much, they said that previous members of the NPC could not join the NPHC and people who were already members of the NPHC could not change organizations. None of these sites mentioned what would happen if someone had previously been a member of the NMGC. Does the NPHC even recognize the NMGC?

There are quite a few orgs that won't pledge you if you are already part of a greek organization.

Mmhmm. Gotcha.
ETA: As a member of your current sorority, how do you feel about women who betray their memberships in other sororities and want to join yours?

NPHC doesn't need to "recognize" the NMGC. Did you read the thread that I directed you to? If you were a member of another social GLO, you can't "change your mind" and pledge an NPHC org.

People crack me up not wanting to believe us when we say this is not allowed. If you don't believe us, call the headquarters of the org you're interested in or better yet, wait until you get an interview (if you get an interview) and when the members ask you if you've ever been initiated into a sorority, tell them what you are telling us.

She'll probably lie flat out and end up getting caught... I've had women who denounced their letters flat out lie to my face and tell me that "ABC NPHC org that I want to join knows about my experience and does not consider me to be a member of XYZ latina/multicultural sorority any longer. I made a mistake and they undersatnd that" BULL CRAP!!!

I would feel hesitant at first and be leery of her intentions. I wouldn't flat out reject her and I would listen to her reasons for leaving them in order to come to my conclusion. However, her reasons had better be damn good ones. I do understand that sometimes people make foolish mistakes.
Thank you guys for clearing things up for me. Even though I'm disappointed, I'm going to take this as a learning experience. I was foolish and didn't listen to my gut feelings. I almost depledged during the pledging process, but my pledge class sisters tried to talk me into staying and I listened to them. I'll never do something like that again.
