Another about giving letters/lavaliering...

My boyfriend and I have been discussing this for a while now and still haven't found a conclusion....

Does the Delta Tau Delta fraternity have a ceremony for "pinning" or "lavaliering" a girlfriend/fiancee? One of the guys in his chapter gave his fiancee the sweetheart pin of the fraternity, but said he cannot locate any sort of ceremony in the fraternity bylaws. A few of the guys in the chapter said they know there's a ceremony, but don't know where to find it.

Does anyone know for sure??

I'm not sure of the exact ceremony, but in looking through the EH chapter's website, I found something close. Try this address. If it does not work, let me know. Thanks!

Thank you so much for responding! In case you haven't figured it out, I'm a Gamma Phi, too, from the University of California, Riverside. It's different for me to see other Gamma Phis who love Delts as much as I do (other than my little sis who's dating my boyfriend's little bro- both Delts)... they're my boys, my little (and big) brothers, and I love being their "Grandma."

Thanks again for responding!

Sorry I've missed this for the past month. I don't know why my computer didn't show a new posting.

There is nothing that I know of in our bylaws that spells out a specific ceremony for pinning, engagements or lavaliering. In fact, most of the undergraduate Delts I know don't even know what pinning is. It's just not a part of their world, I guess.

That was a real surprize to me.

It's been a very long time since I was an undergrad, and I know we had a ceremony in which both chapters dressed up and we serenaded the sorority -- and, of course, the couple. I just don't remember much beyond that.

I don't know whether that ceremony was a Fraternity wide thing, or a chapter tradition.

Sorry, that's not much help. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know.
