Average class size
Hey locals! What's your average class size? Do you rush both Fall and Spring? I'm just wondering how locals on average are doing.

Our local sororities are associate members of our College Panhellenic so they go through recruitment with our nationals. There is a range, but for the most party they recruit the same number of women as our nationals (30-40 in the fall, 8-15 in the winter).
Our local fraternities also do recruitment just like our national fraternities (unstructured). Some do recruitment only in the fall, others do fall and winter. The fraternities (both local and national) that draw a lot of athletes have their "big rush" in terms that are off-season. Class sizes range from 10-40.

The locals at my school (1 fraternity, 2 sororities) usually recruit anywhere from 1-6 pledges in the Fall and 0-4 pledges in the Spring.
Pretty tiny.

Fall has been anywhere from 2-17 in the past few years, winter 3-6. We're known for being a small sorority

So far, 10 girls were initiated into our Alpha class, and we're looking to take somewhere between 10 and 20 (probably closer to 15 or so) girls for the winter term (beta class). We've had about 45-50 rush out this winter.
pretty good for the new sorority in town!

We're really small too, but grown exponentially since I pledged. I pledged alone, since me (fall '06) we've had pledge groups of 2-4 women a semester, and gone from 4 to 12 sisters. We're trying to keep our numbers up but it's hard being a small local. We also lost a lot of our organizational methods (and some ritual) when we got to be so small (before I pledged.) I'm the oldest sister now (sophomore when I pledged) and I'm trying really hard to enrich those traditions and get us more organized before I leave. I have faith in our e-board now though, they're all really committed girls.
All of us are incredibly different so we're also hard to market (we're not a particular 'kind' of girl, and really, really diverse) and the biggest sororities (nationals) are 80+. It's hard for a modest little group to compete with all that glam, especially being a part of the same council. But I love us, and though I've wished for a better Greek experience a few times, I always look around and realize that even with all our problems I'd still choose us today.

Our organization usually ranges from 4 to 10 per semester when we pledge. Depending on the University you'll see figures drastically differ from one local to the other.
Note to Serena: Definitely can say I've been where you're at. The main thing that will help is ensuring a proper documentation and record keeping from both the Alumnae and the active chapter. Something that I started doing in 2005 was keeping a copy of EVERYTHING you can get your hands on. Like I keep a soft copy of our ritual book, pledge process, bylaws, constitution, etc.

We pledge between 6 and 12 each semester normally, we've had as small as 3 and as large as 22. Our school has 1700 students and 2 other frats. The Asian interest is rather small but the other one is Lambda Chi and aren't much more then us. Together greek life makes up about 4% of the school.

Toledo only has 1 local sorority, Chi Delta Pi... I think they usually get around 10 girls in the fall, and about 5 in the spring (not positive though). I DO know that they are TINY!
They have 30 girls, max, while the 7 national sororities all have 75+
