Exclamation 1901 XO badge!

Hi Ladies,

Once again I've come across a Chi Omega badge from Tufts on ebay. This badge is 109 years old! The seller has no idea which organization it belongs to. I REALLY hope one of you can rescue this historic badge.

Item 270512311161

- GT Alpha Phi

Edit:
I worry that the more cynical/suspicious/wary members of GreekChat may think that I'm somehow associated with the seller or auction. That is absolutely not the case! I honestly don't mean to put any badges I've mentioned (only the 2 Chi Omega ones) "at risk" for being won by a non-XO. I spend a couple of minutes each day on ebay looking for newly listed Alpha Phi items and "sorority pins" (since many sellers don't know/include the GLO or know it's called a badge, not a pin). I posted the info about the 2 XO badges because I have experienced the disappointment of being outbid on an Alpha Phi pin by a non-APhi collector and wanted to let as many XO's know about it so that they could rescue it.

Since there are plenty of threads and posts about badges and other GLO antiques on ebay, I'll continue to bring (hopefully positive) attention to interesting NPC badges.

Phew! I may just eased my own worries by writing this, but thanks anyway for your consideration.

Ummmm...I'm pretty sure this isn't a 1901 badge. First red flag is that Chi Alpha Chapter at Tufts wasn't chartered until 1910.

NutBrnHair: Thanks for catching that!

I just repeated what the seller listed as information about the badge. It's very possible that the seller mistyped or mistakenly remembered the year engraved on the badge and wrote 1901 instead. The seller also didn't provide zoomed-in photos of the back, so I can't double-check the engraving. Even if it's a 1910 badge, it's still at least 100 years old, and it might even be a chapter founder's badge.

More likely that it is a 2001 badge or a badge which belonged to the 1901st initiate of that chapter. Whatever the case, looks like a collector got it for a good price.

Badge

Totally agree with Nut---besides the fact that Tufts Chi O came about later, the badge looked too NEW.
