Post Recruitment 2012

Hey ladies! I was wondering if any of you could offer some tips for how you handle your recruitment, we're looking for some new ideas, but are running out!

Thanks for the help!

Love&Roses!

Well, this is our last week before recruitment. Our plans include a photo scavenger hunt, Lazer Tag with our campus chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, an "instrument playground" where PNM's get to try instruments the sisters bring in, then an open choir right after that, and a dinner at the VPM's place. We also have a night we call Formal Rush, which is kinda like Pref or Rose Tea, but your chapter probably has traditions about that.

I hope this helps. We done other events, such as "Be a Kid Again" and "Girls' Night In", if you need more ideas.

No problem! It's great to share ideas across chapters.

It's just a fun event where we take pictures of stuff around campus. The group that has the most pictures wins candy.

Generally, scavenger hunts are not endorsed by SAI and can get a chapter in trouble for hazing. My understanding is that, if everyone - new members and sisters - participate in the event then it is not seen as hazing. The problem starts when new members are being made to do something that the general membership does not have to do.

My advice to collegiate chapters is to think carefully about the events you plan and remember that SAI can be a little trigger happy about hazing.

Yeah, we all participate unless a sister is already excused from a recruitment event or a potential MIT cannot attend. We also have potential MITs with sisters so it's not an us vs. them thing. After all, we want to get to know these girls.

We may or may not do it this coming year; I don't know since I'm graduating.
