Greek Week Events

I need some help. I was selected to be Day Chair for Fun Day during Greek Week and I need some ideas. I did it last year too but I would like to have some fun games or events or something new.

What do you guys do at your school for Greek Week?

@ ohio state we have like a greek olympics.... talent shows.... battle the greeks in different sports... random NONGreeks have the opportunity to challenge greeks... there were alot of dinners and house parties... if your organization strolls/partywalks/hops or whatever u may call it, u could have a competition with that... we've done unity stepshows... unity concerts....

hope that helps

I'm not sure what is going to happen this year at Greek Week @ Otterbein...there was some controversy over the sports days and when to have certain events as well as the scoring system (grrrrr).

But for a "fun day"...I'd say things like Dizzy Bat, Hop A Longs (ya know, those big rummber balls you sit on and hop?), Egg toss/balloon toss, kickball...things that don't require aggression or things that chapters heavy in athletes really can't just be good at...things that no one can be good at, really.

OH!!! And in a flash of brillance: simon says. MASS simon says. As in, every chapter has X players. There is 1 judge from each chapter and a neutral (Greek advisor?) caller. Chapter with the last man standing wins.

I only remember a lip syncing contest and stuff like kick ball games.

My chapter was way too small to compete in all of the Greek Week activities.

We had quite a few events:

Football tournament, with a powderpuff game proceeding it.

Skits and Banners: each chapter made a banner (which was judged), and then also performed a skit. Both had to be consistent with the Greek Week theme.

Event at either a club or bar, where there was a lip sync competition. The proceeds went to charity.

There were other events, but those are the ones that come to mind first.

Tug of War
Painted Wooden Sign to promote Greek Life
Banner to Promote Greek Life
Greek Sing (skits)
Philanthropy project (participation equals points toward Greek Week): IE:Campus clean-up, Dance Marathon, Blood Drive Promotion

In the olden days on our campus, one of the competitions was a Chariot race! The groups had to construct a chariot and race around a field.

One of the Fraternities did a "Fairest Maiden" Competition that had fun games like human chess and a talent contest.

It is important to judge groups based on percentage of the GLO's participation and now "how many members" turned out as some groups are larger or smaller than others and doing percentage events the playing field.

It's funny how everyone's Greek Week is so different. On our campus, there are games starting Monday and ending Saturday. Games range from football, basketball, broomball, to even an egg toss, keg toss (aka throwing a garbage can) and other fun stuff. The HUGE event which is fun but stressful is Mock Rock... each org comes up with a 6 minute dance routine to mixed music and we have judges and all that.
