I have a question for y'all. I e-mailed my province officer, and she said she'd get back to me on Monday, but I'd still like to ask my GC sisters.
There is a girl, Tonya, an excellent clarinetist who just graduated from here with a performance degree. She will be doing her graduate work at Baylor University, but not for a year...this year, she will be teaching at a nearby high school. Tonya is close friends with a girl from my chapter, Staci. I was talking with Staci last night, and we really think Tonya would have liked to pledge...she's just very reserved. She did tell Staci that, if there was a chapter at Baylor, she would pledge then.
Well, Baylor doesn't have SAI. They only have Mu Phi Epsilon, TBS, and maybe one other. I do know there are several alum chapters in Texas, and surely there must be one close, or semi-close, to Baylor.
So here's the big question: if she is interested, could she be initiated as a non-student member this year, so she would be a sister when she goes down to Texas and could affiliate with an alum chapter there? And I've read up on non-student members in the chapter proceedures manual but I'm still a bit fuzzy on how this works, how often it happens, and the possibility of it happening for Tonya. Does a non-student member get offered a bid, and pledge along with the MIT class? I know they go alum at the end of that year, but I don't know much else about it.
ANYONE with any insight, help!
