Recruitment & Recommendation Info Sessions for Fall 2007 & Spring 2008
This thread is for sharing news about the sorority information sessions sponsored by NPC Area Alumnae Panhellenics* in different locations. These meetings are for high school seniors and can help answer questions about recruitment at both in-state and out-of-state colleges. They usually offer help with getting recommendations, especially in parts of the U.S. where recommendations are desirable at a lot of schools.

I think it would be good for Alumni NPHC chapters to have events for high school seniors and their parents to educate them on hazing and membership intake policies.
We don't have to worry about educating people about "recruitment" as much as we need to let young people know what they don't have to tolerate AND remind parents who might be Greek what the "new" rules are, if they haven't been active.

We had a fantastic turnout this year!!! The morning session was standing-room only. We had well over 400 people between the two sessions and so many of the parents showed their appreciation b/c this process is as new to them as it is to their daughters! We talked about what a sorority is, the benefits of joining, what recruitment is, when it is (fall vs deferred), what to expect and how to prepare. I think we got the point across and I def used some references from past GC discussions to drive the point home to find a few sororities you really like each round, instead of the one "must-have", to be polite at each event b/c the woman you meet has pledged her life to her sorority, to be on time, make your own decisions, have good grades, and to dress for the girls!

AKA, DST, SGRho, and ZPhiB don't participate in these types of events. Your best bet is to visit the national website for the sorority you're interested in and review the membership sections.
If you're still in high school, it doesn't hurt to talk to your teachers and ask them about their sorority and fraternity experiences. I went to a 99 percent black high school and all of our Greek teachers loved talking to us about their orgs.
