Juneteenth

Are you guys celebrating Junteenth? I know we are all really quick to have a barbeque for the 4th of July...shouldn't we be as quick to do at least the same for Juneteenth.

I've never been to a Juneteenth celebration.

As far as the nationwide celebrations I think various cities do their own thing and have good attendance. But I agree that the community as a whole needs to do a better job of supporting it and developing programs around it.

It has fallen off recently, but for 7 years my mother and her group of friends formed a Non-profit organization and their biggest fundraiser was/is the Juneteenth celebration.

Man, the person to does the BBQ make the best in the WORLD, there is nothing like "Texas" BBQ (fitting, isn't it). It is a wonderful day of family, friends, cards, dancing and raising money for a good cause.

hopefully it will happen this year, if not I will make sure that it happens next year. You’ve never had BBQ unless you’ve had (fake RL Name) Randy’s BBQ. It doesn’t need sauce it so damn good.

In my hometown there a huge festival...called of course JUNETEENTH. But for some unfortunate reason every year violence breaks out...It never fails. But I didn't go this year and I didn't hear anything, so this may have been the first year in a VERY long time, of no violence on juneteenth day celebration.
