I need feedback from all of you!
To my fellow Greekchatters - I need some assistance from you…
I am the Webmaster for the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity National Website. Currently, the site is in version 4.5 and I am about to undergo my annual ritual of tearing it all down and rebuilding it. That’s where I need your assistance.
I am reasonably comfortable that the site provides all of the necessary information about the organization but I get the feeling that it doesn’t do a good enough job of letting people really “get to know” Iota Phi Theta.
Remember – we are the youngest of the NPHC organizations and we don’t have nearly as many chapters as some of the other groups. As an example, AKA has about 600 chapters – we only have 180. Lots of people come to the site not knowing ANYTHING about the organization – our goal is that the site answer as many questions as possible in one visit.
I am trying to figure out how to use the site as a means for people to really develop a feel for the fraternity and our membership. To that end, I welcome any feedback that I can get from anyone. I don’t have a problem with brutal honesty as long as it’s in the spirit of Greek Love.
Take a peek and let me know what you think … I welcome your input!

Well fellow Greek Brother, I for one find it a fine site. As you go along you will find things to fine tune it with. listing of all chapters, a place where Your Brothers can change updated information to keep them in the loop. You will lose many Alums as they move anddo not have a place to send current info.
We at LXA, LX Chapter are setting up our own site so that we can do it our selves. You have one hell of a large job ahead, and I wishi I could do web sites.
Good luck and stay with it NO matter what!!!!!!

IotaNet,
Are you crazy...
I cannot believe you'd want to change your site. It's absolutely fantastic. It's easy to follow and I like how you have that sidebar link on each page which makes hoping around from page to page a lot easier.
I know how it is to want to update things on a webpage but I think yours looks very professional. GOOD JOB.

IotaNet,
I have to agree w/ Hootie, your website is truly awesome! It has A LOT of info on it as it is. But being that I am the National Webmistress for my young sorority, I know how you feel about wanting to make sure interests have all the info they need about the org. I am actually in the process of doing our National site as well. One thing I can suggest to you that I am putting on our site is a message board/chat room. Both of these methods will allow interests to ask any questions they have about Iota that all brothers can answer.
Another thing you can add is a brother testimonial page. That way, interests can get a more intimate view of how brothers feel about the fraternity. If you decide to do this, maybe you could email brothers w/ a list of questions they could answer for the testimonial (i.e.-what have you gained from being a brother? what attracted you to Iota? what is some advice you can give a man interested in Iota? etc, etc). You can have brothers answer 1-2 questions from the list.
Those are just some things I can think of off the top of my head. But I think your page is great! Keep up the great work!

I do websites for a living, and this site is really nice!!! If you want to make the site a little more personal, how about asking actives and alums a question, choosing the best responses, and posting their replies along with a photo of them? That way you can feature brothers and alums from all over and visitors can get a feel of your fraternity as a national, yet connected organization. Make sense?? Email me if you have questions, and I'll give you some help

Personally frat, I think you have done an OWtstanding job!
It's hard to say what needs to be changed since I am apart of what you have done thus far.
Having chapter links has been great. That way people get a more personal view of what Iota means to its members.
Plus you keep it very up-to-date. That is to be commended.
All I would say is maybe add a mode of communcation for members of the frat if that is possible. I know guestbooks aren't the perferred mode of choice, but a message board might be positive.
The message board on the Sigma Gamma Rho national site is good because it allows people who have been out of the fold to contact a lot of members of the frat in order to get them back into it (ie: like their LB's or their sands), it allows members to tell of achievements of their chapters to people who don't usually hear about other folks, and it simply allows members to interact.
They have non-members involved too, but it is not like that overwhelming request for info/membership like you see in chapter guestbooks.
That is the only thing I could see as a possible addition.
GOD bless frat and I hope all is well. Much luv and respect.
Ow-Ow!
