Question Money

I was just wondering what everyone's chapters do with people from whom it is difficult to collect money. We have a member who has not reimbursed her dues to the chapter. These dues were paid to nationals in September and because to the size of our chapter we really need to get this cleared up. The subject has been brought up to her and we have tried to nicely tell her that we need it ASAP (she is active) but to no avail. At this point we don't want any hard feelings, just to collect the dues and move on with our lives . . . what can we do?!?

PROBATION! No partys, or functions or offices held!

We have an Alum who is a Lawyer and we will sue them or thier parents if they leave and owe us money!
Whille this may sound harsh, they are hurting the intire organiztion by not paying their bills!

THEY ARE SCREWING YOU AND YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS!

Well I guess that is all I need to say on this account!

Your sorority's President and Treasurer need to sit down with her and iron out a financial plan for her to follow until she is up to date with dues. If she doesn't fulfill her financial obligations, she is not a sister in good standing and should not be allowed to vote or participate in rush or other sorority events. Of course, if she has certain problems in her family such as an illness, a death, or unemployment, they should be compassionate.
For future reference, the treasurer should set up a payment plan and outline the consequences for not paying dues.

Tom said it exactly as I would. Until the dues are paid in full, no participating in the sorority, period!! Dues are part of the obligation when joining a GLO, and if someone is having problems paying them, they shouldn't be waiting until this point to say so. Payment plans should be established in the very beginning so that people can handle payments.

If this person chooses not to pay their dues, they are as Cream said, a sister in bad standing, and if they continue to do so, you may request deactivation.

thank you guys so much for replying we recently held an executive council meeting and discussed this very topic, this hasn't been a problem for us in the past so we're not very experienced in dealing with it, thank you again.
