140 years ago, three young girls (ages 14-16), Anna Boyd, Eva Webb, and Mary Comfort, were snowed in at the Lewis School for Girls in Oxford, Mississippi. They couldn't make it home for the holidays, but they found comfort in spending the time together. It was during this time that they decided to form the Delta Gamma Club - a club of friendship, scholarship, and mutual helpfulness. The selected the our motto, which led to the the letters Delta Gamma; and they penned our first rituals.
Although we officially celebrate Founders Day in March, this is truly a special time of year for all Delta Gammas as we remember the women who had no idea DG would grow to be such an amazing international organization.
So Merry Christmas everyone -- especially to my DG sisters near and far!

There are friends who pass like ships in the night, who meet for a moment, then sail out of sight, with never a backward glance of regret...Friends we meet briefly then quickly forget.
Then there are friends who sail together, through quiet waters and stormy weather. Helping each other through joy and through strife. And those are the kind who give meaning to life.
