Kappa Alpha Psi Interest question about Intake Fees
Good evening,
I have expressed interest into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I have done extensive research on the Fraternity. I understand that the new member initiation fee is going to cost me roughly around $1,500. I am from a single parent household, I work two on-campus jobs to support my way through school while also paying off on my own car. I have been saving up money this summer for the Fraternity and I will still be about $500 short. Is there a way I can defer payments for the rest of the initiation cost or any other way they can work with you until you have sufficient funds for the Fraternity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

You've put quite a lot of personal identifying information in your post -- you might seriously consider editing some or all of that out on a public website. Just saying.
The best (and likely only) way to get the answer you need is to ask a KAPsi member on your campus.

Actually I would take it one step further, if there is an on-campus advisor for the chapter, I would ask him.
Not trying to cause drama or controversy, but I have seen this actually backfire when asking the collegiate members on campus without verifying with the chapter advisor.

Consider selling things at pawn shops and places like Plato's Closet. The key is to see how you can (legally and with no regrets) make that $500.
Some colleges/universities do quick loans (not associated with financial aid) for things like this. ETA: These tend to be called "emergency loans."
Good luck to you. You seem like a nice young man, Wise.

Donate plasma!
In all seriousness, though, PLEASE don't fall into the trap of a payday loan or title loan. If you find something like what DrPhil mentions, check that it is legitimately through the university, then check again, then check a third time. I get about ten scam e-mails/day about scholarships and loans that use my university's name and are nothing but predators.

He would go in person to the Dean's Office (or the college's/university's equivalent) and ask about this. He would not handle this via the Internet or strangers in dark alleys.
That's how life was lived before the Internet controlled people's brains.
ETA: Even calling or emailing the Dean's Office is wiser than trusting unsolicited emails about loans.

Being in an organization can be VERY expensive. I always say to people that if you have issues raising the intake fees, consider waiting until you are in a better position so that you dont have to choose between dues and food. You will NOT like being broke in a frat!
I know the whole undergrad experience but we (NPHC) have enough dead weight (not saying that you would be because you sound like a very hardworking, ambitious person). There is always Alumni chapter if you want it for the right reasons.
