Effects of Drunk Driving
Beware: Graphic Images
I know this has been circulating, but this is the first I've seen of it. I searched GC and didn't find anything about it. And, I put it in Risk Management as it involves drunk driving.
Mods, please move it if it's in the wrong place.
Jacqueline Saburido
This is Jacqueline Saburido on September 19, 1999.
This is her and her Father, 1998.
This is her on Vacation in Venezuela.
Birthday party as a child.
At a party with friends.

The car in which Jacqueline traveled. She was hit by another car that was driven by a 17-year old male student on his way home after drinking a couple of hard packs with his friends. This was in December 1999.
After the accident Jacqueline has needed over 40 operations.
Jacqueline was caught in the burning car and her body was heavily burnt during around 45 seconds.
With her Father, 2000.
Getting treatment.
Three months after accident.
Without a left eyelid Jacquie needs eye drops to keep her vision.
Now 20 year old, he cannot forgive himself for driving drunk on that night three years ago. He's aware of devastating Jacqueline Saburidos life.
Not everyone who gets hit with a car dies. This picture was taken 4 years after the accident and the doctors are still working on Jacqueline, whose body was covered with 60% severe burnings.
And if you were wondering...

Jesus presciousjeni.
I have seen these pics before and they are stomache turning.
Maybe you should put a larger warning on your thread title like:
Warning graphic pictures of a horribly burned and disfigured woman.
I mean seriously. Its enough to make you feel ill.
Should I start looking up death and dismemberment pics for all types of accidents and injuries in an effort to gross Greekchatters out?
After all this is risk management I am sure we can find a pic of what a man's head looks like after he falls from a height.

There is a video about her that everyone in the enlisted Air Force has to watch during their training.

She's alive. That's the point. Apparently she appeared on Oprah and the family has a website:

They are still taking donations to help with all the costs. These pictures didn't "gross" me out. They broke my heart. I'm sure her campaign has done someone some good.

I'm amazed that the guy was only given 7 years in prison and a $20,000 fine although he killed two people and severly disfigured another. The man shouldn't be allowed to see the light of day for the rest of his life.

James at the beginning of her first post it says "Beware Graphic Images". Her second post shows a mangled car that was the result of drunk driving even before she shows the pictures of the poor young lady. Did you really expect the next images to be happy teddybears sitting around having a tea party ?
ZTAngel isn't it amazing what a lawyer can do for a drunk driver's or as of this week a child sex offender's sentence?

It breaks my heart...and makes me kind of nauseous. I think I would rather be dead than like that.
I think 7 years in prison and a $20,000 fine are nothing compared to the guilt this young man must be carrying around. I think it's a much more fitting punishment to let him live his life with that guilt than to keep him locked away. Because every time he looks in the mirror, or goes to a party, or does anything, he'll feel guilt.

For those that have just seen this, it is very gut wrenching to see a person in this type of shape.
If none have seen something like this in real life, it is totally different.
It is heart rendering to be sure to see a person who was as lovely and happy a person that she was, well, I have no words.
Whether the person had justice is a different matter and was said, He will live with this for the rest of His life. While I had seen much as my seven years on the PD, some still are in My mind and will never go away as I sure it wont for the young man.
This can and does happen, but it is not from alcohol entirely.
Life is precious. Be careful with it!

I saw the Oprah episode about her, and she said something like she only allows herself twenty minutes to grieve and cry everyday because there's no use in wallowing in self-pity. I thought that was the bravest thing. It really made me think about how I sometimes can be too pessimistic and negative-thinking, and how I do have a pretty good life and I should be more appreciative of what I have and not dwell so much on the negative.

That is an incredibly healthy attitude!! She allows herself to heal through grieving and heal through hope! I would love to meet her in person...and maybe pray with her. I saw that she prays daily and carries her icons and pictures wherever she goes.
To God be the glory.

I've seen this before. But its still just as gut wrenching and sick seeing it again.
Honestly, I respect her for being brave and just having to put up with all of that crap that she has to deal with daily. But if it were me, I'd just want to die. Maybe I'm getting the wrong outlook on this. But I wouldn't want to live like that. Same thing goes if I was like that Terri Schivo or however you spell her name. Just let me go.
But that's just me. And like I said, that woman has more in her than I ever will.
