Philanthropy Help- "Singled Out"

Hi Everyone,

So I am a newly appointed Philanthropy Chair who is in need of some assistance with planning a new event for my chapter. "Singled Out" was a MTV match matching show back in the 90's hosted by Jenny Mcarthy. I have heard of some "singled out" philanthropies before and am wondering if anyone has any experience attending or participating in one and could give me some ideas or tips for what worked and what didn't. It is somewhat similar to a date auction but a little more gameshowie.

OMG. I can't believe anyone nowadays would even remember that show.

I used to watch that show because McCarthy was so silly.

I guess collegiates would remember it if they were watching it with older siblings, etc. The show ran from 1995-1998 so an 18-22 yo would've been in elementary school.

I agree. I would guess that most college kids these days might not even know what that show was about. You're talking about something that aired 15 years ago when most of these girls were in PRESCHOOL or starting KINDERGARTEN!

Ha! Our chapter had bid day shirts one year (in the 90s) that had a show-esque logo and "Singled Out" on the front. They were really cute. And now they're nostalgia.

As an aside, I would check with your chapter's philanthropy advisor to make sure an event like this would be OK with Gamma Phi Beta.
