*a self defense night (ask a local judo or karate school for a demo/class)
*an overnight camping trip (let hubby stay home and take care of the kids)
*an old fashioned slumber party
*night out on the town (dress up, rent a limo and have dinner and see a show)
*go sailing (crew on a tall ship for an afternoon-- great bonding and team building experience. You can arrange a trip with smaller schooners with as little as ten people-- or see if you can piggy back with a company who is already reserving the ship)
*fix your car (ask a local mechanic to give your group a lesson on the basics-- changing your oil, air filter, tires)
*make your own sundae night (everybody bring a different flavor icecream and one topping)
*stock club (form an investment club, meet monthly to discuss new investments, bring in financial experts)
*get in shape (form a daily walking or jogging group)
*movie critic night (pop some popcorn, rent a video, and discuss it afterward)
*guest speakers (call your chamber of commerce and see who is available. Look for good motivational speakers on topics such as "turning your hobby into a business", "refreshing your resume", etc)
*ceramics class
*first aid class (have the red cross come in and do a cpr certification or first aid certification class)
*paint ball (husbands and kids can join in at a paint ball facilitiy near you)
*day at the museum
*dream night- design your life. (sit down with a bottle of wine and each person makes a list of 100 things they want to do, where they want to go, things they want to accomplish). Everybody reads their top ten and all brainstorm on how to get there.
*ethnic cuisine: once a month, go to a different style restaurant (Mongolian, Thai, Chinese, Swedish)
*belly dance night (bring in a belly dancing teacher for the evening)
*day at the beach or pool
*mystery evening (each member is responsible for a different evening or afternoon's activities. She only tells people what to wear, what time to show up, and what to bring). Members don't know where they're going or what they're doing until they get there!
*behind the Scenes: many TV studios will arrange free behind the scenes tours. If you live in a small town, call your local TV station. If you're in a big city, see if you can arrange to attend a taping of a sit-com, talk show, or game show.
*game night: break out the cards, monopoly, risk, chess, checkers, and clue
*get to know your sister night: each person writes down answers to questions starting from general to more specific, such as farthest place ever traveled? favorite tv show? are you married, single, how many kids? zodiac sign? month of birthday? what I majored in? states lived in? best subject in school? one thing nobody knows about you? (use your imagination to add more questions). Divide into teams. Read one person's answers one at a time. The opposing team tries to guess who it is. Each time they are wrong, they get a point. The team with the LEAST points, wins.
