Links to help you

Are you interested in sales, research, production, extension services, …? Do you want to work with exotic animals, dairy or beef cattle, poultry, horses, goats… you get the picture

Any school that has an ag college usually has good ag links. Sometimes you can look at the schools employment website for on the farms jobs or staff positions. However, I have found that a lot of those jobs do require an advanced degree.

Here is a mixed bag of websites. I might have something more specific if you know what you are looking for.

The University of Vermont Internships and Careers (Animal Science Depar)

www.agcareers.com

http://www.idealist.org/
(non-profit organizations like Heifer International, use like animal for a keyword)

Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture

www.petsmart.com

www.goldkist.com

http://www.equinepros.com/jobs1.htm

(zoo jobs)

Department of Ag Agency search

Hope this helps

John Deere Agri Services

The business I'm working for, John Deere Agri Services, is looking for outstanding candidates in a number of areas. Most of these positions are suited to people with 5+ years of experience. If you are interested, look at the jobs posting list at http://www.deere.com/en_US/careers/m...eer_index.html

Most of these will be listed under Illinois-Hoffman Estates (outside of Chicago), although you will also see some in Colorado. Jobs vary as to location in some cases. If you want more "inside" info, feel free to email or PM me as well! -Beth

Our Organization
John Deere is the world’s leading producer of agriculture equipment, offering full lines of tractors, combines, seeding equipment, hay and forage equipment, cotton pickers and strippers, sprayers and cultivators, tillage tools and other implements. John Deere offers complete farming services and solutions with products sold and serviced through the industry's premier dealer network. We treat our people with respect and offer competitive compensation and outstanding benefits, such as medical and dental coverage, life insurance, 401(k) and tuition assistance.

As a natural extension of Deere's successful equipment business, the John Deere Agri Services division works to provide greater value to the ag market by creating integrated solutions between John Deere's service offerings and equipment offerings.

John Deere Agri Services provides information and services; helping growers optimize yields, helping food processors and retailers offer high quality products, and helping agriculture professionals manage risk and protect their businesses up and down the value chain. From digital soil information and aerial remote imaging to predictive products, measurement, documentation, and business intelligence; John Deere Agri Services provides sophisticated new ways for producers and processors to manage risk and to grow, process, package and protect their agricultural products

Qualifications
As we focus on value creation across the agricultural supply chain, John Deere Agri Services has a tremendous growth opportunity as both a business and an employer of highly skilled and talented individuals.

The Position
As a result of this growth, we are currently looking for highly motivated, experienced professionals to join the John Deere Agri Services team. We are looking for individuals with four-year or master’s degree in an Ag-related discipline (Ag Economics, Agri Business, Ag Sciences, Agronomy) or Risk Management and 5+ years of experience in the agribusiness, precision agriculture or risk management industry.

Production Optimization — 5+ years in the agribusiness, precision agriculture and/or agronomic consulting industry. Agronomy background. Agronomic market research experience. Strong business acumen, preferably from actual business experience. Business plan development and execution. Technical product/service development process.

Project/Program Management — Experience and skills as listed above and very strong project management skills. Experience with large, complex multi-site/functional projects. Six Sigma, Process Pro and/or PMI/PMP certification.

Internships for Students Studying Dairy

Dairy Management Scholarships (DMI) Scholarship

The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDPRB), through Dairy Management, Inc, annually awards up to 19 scholarships for $1500 to eligible undergraduate (sophomore through senior)enrolled in university programs that emphasize dairy. Scholarships are awarded based on outstanding academic achievement, an interest in a career in a dairy-related discipline, and demonstrated leadership, initiative, and integrity. Candidates are expected to complete an application form, submit a transcript of all college courses, and write a short statement describing their career aspirations, dairy-related activities and work experiences. The application information is evaluated by NDPRB Scholarship Committee, composed of an external review panel and at least two Board members. The recommendations of the Scholarship Committee are summarized by NDPRB staff and the scholarships are then awarded. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, courses related to dairy, apparent commitment to a career in dairy, involvement in extracurricular activities, especially those related to dairy, and evidence of leadership ability, initiative, character, and integrity. Students may be awarded scholarships in multiple years. Scholarship winners must be enrolled during the entire academic year for which the scholarship is selected.

Completed applications should be submitted to the NDPRB c/o Marykate Ginter, Dairy Management, Inc., 10255 W. Higgins Road, Rosemont, IL 60018-5615, by May 31, 2006. Questions regarding the application or regarding NDPRB scholarship programs can be directed to Marykate Ginter at (847) 627-3252 or by sending an email to marykate@rosedmi.com. Scholarship forms can be downloaded at http://www.dairyinfo.com under the dairy checkoff button.
