Transferring...

Hi everyone! I am a sophomore considering transferring to a new school. One of the main things stopping me from transferring is the fact that I'll have to leave my AOII sisters. But the school I've been considering has an AOII chapter. I'm just wondering how it would work if I wanted to become part of their chapter. How would I do that? And does anyone recommend/not recommend joining a new chapter? Basically I want to know anything you all know about what happens/has happened to others in the past in my situation since I really know nothing about the process. Thanks for your help and advice!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this, but...

You should contact the CP at your new school or have your current CP contact the new chapter. There is then a form in the Officers Resource Library on the Sister's Only side of the AOII website that the new chapter would then send into IHQ just to make sure you're in good standing, etc.

As far as the non-paperwork related stuff, don't pay any attention to anything you've "heard" about the new chapter. Kind of like going through rush, meet some of the girls in the new chapter and get to know them on a personal level rather than what you've "heard" about them! As AOIIs, we all hold common values and hopefully you'll find great friends in your sisters at the new school.

Your Chapter Treasurer needs to sign off on it as well. But CUBuffs is correct that an affliation form will have to be filled out by your initiated chapter. Then they mail it to your new chapter. Then your new chapter will mail it to Headquarters.

Ok, thanks! I know that in some other sororities, the chapter has to vote to accept the transferring sister. According to my chapter's bylaws, we must automatically extend an invitation to the transferring sister to join our chapter. Is it the same for every other chapter?
