CASA Fundraisers

Hello Ladies!

I need your help brainstorming.

My chapter is looking for a fun, new fundraiser for our signature philanthropy event this year. We've done Cocoa for CASA a couple times, but we're ready to try something new.

Have any of your chapters done a successful CASA fundraiser? Or do you know of any popular fundraiser themes that have worked in the past?

"Kicks for CASA" (dodgeball or soccer tournament"; "KATS at BAT" (softball tournament); 5K races with a theme; those all come quickly to mind.

How large is your campus? How large is your chapter?

Have you reached out to HQ for suggestions/help? There's a section on the website with information, IIRC.

Good for y'all. In my juvenile law practice, I've worked with CASA workers. They're such a great resource, especially when I suspect the CPS caseworker isn't doing their job. As a parent's attorney, I've never had them really help me out very much, but in pretty much every case, my client was beyond help.

My chapter hosts "Taco's at our CASA." $5 for a taco meal at the house.

We also host a "Mr University" male beauty pageant. We ask for one representative from each fraternity, sports team, RA staff, club, etc. (There's always some who choose not to participate). We ask faculty and staff to be judges. There are a few rounds, Intro on the catwalk, then there's a cut, bathing attire, then there's a cut, then formal wear with a question. It can get pretty darn funny. We charge an entrance fee of like one or two bucks for audience members.

We also do Theta Twister. We set up like 12 double Twister mats. We have teams of 4 compete against each other. Entry is like $10 a team.

We've tossed around the idea of "Kicks for CASA" and a 5k, weren't entirely sold on "Kicks," and 5k philanthropic runs are slightly overdone on our campus.

My university is pretty large- upwards of 35,000 students. And our chapter has about 100 women.

I really like the idea of "Tacos" and the Mr. University contest! Those are really unique and fun.

Thanks for the great ideas, ladies!

My chapter also does a Tacos for CASA event and it is so much fun! We have a band come play and plenty of delicious food, with a silent auction, too. We also have Kickball for CASA, which is an annual kickball tournament.

I think more groups should have events that involve food, but that is just me!

Or maybe I just really like what was mentioned here: queso, tacos, nachos...

Another chapter at my school does a Mr. University pageant and it's a huge hit, even with non-greeks!
