I was just on vacation and another vacationer on the trip grew up on a watermelon farm, plus she was a chatterbox...I now know more about watermelon breeds than I ever wanted to soooo.... GO WATERMELON!

There is a lesson for sorority women in the pear story. Not only your pmn hears your conversation. Even if you know the person, and they are fine with the topic, someone nearby may not accept it.

You probably know this by now (or will reveal the true reason behind her unusual behavior later in the story), but maybe Mango Girl was a sticklor for "strict silence" and Panhellenic rules?
Unfortunately, I know many PNMs who have interpreted sisters' attempts to follow rules as being unfriendly or standoffish. At least on my campus, I wish Panhellenic would make this rule as clear to the PNMs as they do to the actives!
